This hotel was a shambles. Awful looking entrance, I felt like if I was walking into what the parisiens would say , hotel de passes , i..e where prostitutes operate. The bedroom was minuscule, carpet worn out to the cord, paint flaking and mould in the bathroom, paper thin shaky wall between our room and the next one, which made... More

OK the Hotel is crap, the walls are thin (or some really loud people having really loud sex) and musty old smell. Toilets stained and smelly and the carpet damp. However - its Paris a character city, the location was amazing walking distance to everything we wanted. The Hotel was old and yes the lift was tiny but my wife... More

We were looking for inexpensive and centrally located. We got it, the location was fantastic, just a block to the Seine, across the river from the Louvre, down the street from Musée d'Orsay. But the elevator would barely hold 1 person with their suitcase. The lighting was horrific and I can only guess is to hide the bedbugs or other... More

My boyfriend and I thought we scored, but boy were we wrong. After our flight from los angeles, all either of us wanted to do was shower, and we were quite excited to get to our hotel with the killer location. Unfortunately we were greeted with an amazing display of black mold on the wall, perfect. I could've dealt with... More

Listen...this isn't a four-star place. Its a quiet, little old neighborhood hotel. That's it...no more, no less. But here's the thing, its walking distance to the Louvre, the d'Orsay and the Metro (rue du Bac). Its a short walk into St. Germain des Pres. The staff is great, you can use the computer in the lobby to go on the... More

This cute little hotel was quite a positive surprise. The personnel were very kind and helped explain the direction to several places. The room we received was newly renovated. It looked really good. It was very small for 2 people with suitcases, but all in all we managed fine. The bathroom is huge for Parisian standards, but need an upgrade,... More

It was okay for us as we only stayed for 1 night, but wouldnt come back. The only good things about this "hotel" was the staff and the location. The bad things? On the website it says : Our rooms "de charme" are all equipped with mini bar, hair dryer, private safe, satellite TV, and our room service will make... More

Great location 2 min from the louvre and MRT station. The rooms are outdated to say the least, in fact it appears that the last time they updated the decor Charles De Gaulle was still running the country. Contains what is possibly the worlds smallest elevator. But staff very helpful and spoke good English while also being very attentive. Downside... More

L'Hotel de Beaune has a special place in my heart as it was the very first hotel i stayed at in Paris while i was a student... and it will for ever remain a special place to stay. Back then i had really little money & it was recommended by many artists... Location on Rive Gauche is easy. The red... More

Probably one of the dirtiest hotel I have been to . The overall state of conservation and cleanliness is way below what the net pictures show. Our Room was at a level of dirtiness that I very seldom encountered (and I have travelled all over the planet: Asia-Africa-USA-Europe). The carpet originally red was totally black from stains and dirt. the... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
