I have heard and read about this hotel for years and finally decided to book in November 2014. I could not have been more disappointed. Other than the fact that it is well located on Rue Jacob in the heart of the 6th Arrondissement, nothing else would recommend staying here. The hotel decor is worn and tired. There is absolutely... The d'Angleterre is near to my wife's favorite shops, patisserie, and many Paris locations to which we can walk. It is near enough to the Louvre, the Museu D'Orsay, the Senate at Luxembourg Gardens, the Assembly, the Champs Elysee, Notre Dame etc. that we get our exercise and enjoy this special city on foot. The Hotel has many different rooms,... More

This hotel is a building that is hundreds of years old, and you can see where the rooms have been added over the centuries, and the floor's elevation changes. The old beams are visible on the upper floors and it is totally charming. If you are tall (my husband is 6'4") you will need to watch your head. This is... More

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in September 2014. Our room was spacious and we had everything we needed. It was quiet which was what we needed after a long disruptive flight. There is a lovely courtyard and we enjoyed having a drink there one evening before going out. The breakfast room , we felt, was rather stuffy... More

This was our first trip to Paris and I am very happy that we decided to stay in Saint Germain des Pres. In my opinion, this is a perfect location. You can easily walk to everything. There are 3 subway stops nearby, so you can also get direct Metro train to almost everywhere from one on these stops. Many excellent... More

Rue Jacob is my first choice of where to stay in Paris. It's within walking distance of major Parisian sights; the neighborhood is lovely; and the street has relatively little traffic. The d'Angleterre is small and charming. For my 3-night stay, I requested a quiet room, and mine overlooked the inner courtyard, so I had the rest I needed. I... More

This was a lovely small (26 rooms) hotel that we enjoyed tremendously. The room was so very Parisian and chic. Very nice continental breakfast included in the price. The concierge and all of the staff were tremendously nice and helpful (thank you, Benjamin!!). Lovely courtyard to just relax and enjoy the weather. Within a five minute walk of the nearest... More

Stayed 2 nights in July. Had a nice spacious room overlooking the street but still quiet. Great location for exploring Paris. Metro just around the corner. Breakfast very nice and the staff were very helpful especially Helena who helped with our room and advice on where to go. Quaint old hotel.

Recommended by a Parisian who said that is where he puts all his visitors to Paris and can see why. Old but delightful with an engaging and helpful staff. Large room on the fourth floor overlooking the courtyard. The desk personnel made great recommendations for our dinning. Location is just 2-3 blocks from the Louvre, a 5 minute walk to... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
