The location was okay, wasn’t that great. I would suggest staying at few blocks up north towards the Notre Dame. All the shops, pubs and restaurants are there. The area here was dead, day and night. There is nothing in the immediate area. Hotel was nice, clean and very small, we had a superior which was still very small. It... More

Stayed in August 2009 for 2 nights. Good points: 1) Very nice hotel and well located. Central enough to explore all of Paris on foot 2) Free minibar and wifi are really useful and a nice touch 3) Quiet at night 4) Lots of bars / restaurants / shops around Slight annoyances: 1) The minibar / 'fridge' in our room... Hi all - going to keep this brief with salient points only. Staff: Very friendly - multi-lingual and will not be annoyed at you for not speaking French. They are very approachable and have good knowledge of surrounding areas and recommended 2 excellent restaurants, whci I'd definitely go back to. Rooms: Usual Paris issue with size - slightly smaller than... More

Conveniently located in the Pantheon / Sorbonne area of Paris, the Grand Hotel Saint Michel is also a couple blocks away from a major transportation hub, the Saint Michel RER/Metro station.

This could have been a wonderful stay and a review with high ratings. But too many things went wrong during our stay. This is a medium sized newly renovated hotel with a boutique hotel feeling. The location is excellent on a calm sidestreet close to Luxembourg RER train station, walking distance to all attractions in Latin quarters and even Notre... More

The hotel is in a great section of Paris (Latin Quarter). When we arrived for our stay (7 nights), the friendly staff greeted us and gave us a room upgrade. We were a bit nervous since we knew little to almost no French, except for the phrases we had been practicing, but it was not a problem at this hotel.... More

I'm a bit stumped by all the brilliant reviews this hotel has got. The refurbishment is nice, but the rooms are absolutely minute. Not enough floor space for 2 people to move around - I had to move round the bed each time my husband wanted to walk past, and we couldn't both fit into the bathroom at the same... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Saint-Michel for a week in July 2009. Neither of us had been to Paris before so we did a fair amount of research before deciding on this hotel, which had more positive reviews than most. Although we wanted a safe, comfortable place to stay, we knew we'd be gone sightseeing each... More

Staff very friendly, the hotel is expensive but it´s Paris....the room was clean, BIG, new, quiet, confortable, very good location, three minutes walking from a tube-rgr station (luxemburg), ten minutes walking from Notre-Dame.

My wife and I spent the last couple of days of our honeymoon at the Grand Hotel Saint-Michel. The location is ideal. Steps away from the Pantheon & the Sorbonne. Room was clean and features free soft drinks. There was free wireless internet and a flat screen TV. The staff was very helpful in arranging transportation for us to the... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
