We loved Silvio who worked nights at the front desk. He went above and beyond the call of duty to knock on our door when we didn't wake up with our telephone wake-up call, and offered us coffee on those mornings when we had an early start for day trips. Cristina was also most helpful. She suggested excursions and booked... More

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this boutique style hotel, the room was beautifully decorated, clean & quite roomy for European standards. Loved the breakfast room on level -1, brick arched ceiling & wall mural, staff here went out of their way to find some gluten free products for me. Staff at reception (& we asked a lot of questions of... More

First time in France. Silvio helped me navigate from airport to hotel via RER with no problem. Claire and Marie helped check in with such grace. They also helped me with printing a boarding pass. Afternoon tea in lobby 3-5pm. Shuttle service from hotel to airport 26 Euro. Room is small but so are most European hotels. Breakfast was not... More

Super clean, modern, luxurious sheets, incredible bed for a great night sleep, room was tiny but the views were great. The tiny bathroom with shower was incredibly well-designed and well appointed bathroom. I stayed at this hotel in 2009 as a couple and traveled solo this trip. When looking online for something comparable to the Grand Horel St. Michel (based... More

On most Paris business trips, I stay in chain hotels with my clients. However, on this occasion, I had the freedom to look elsewhere. After spotting the GHSM two years ago, I chose it this time for its ideal location between St. Michel and Luxembourg with lots of great restaurants nearby (including a decent Chinese one directly across the street).... I am a Hyatt and SPG member but the location of this hotel made me chose it, and not a large chain hotel. Good call! This was a perfect stay for many reasons: 1. We came in at 6 AM. My kids were exhausted and fell asleep in the lobby... The manager gave us a small room that my kids... More

We had been travelling for several weeks in France and wanted our last night in Paris to be in a great location and a bit luxurious. We chose the perfect hotel with Grand Hotel Saint Michel. Staff were very helpful. Room was fabulous and location perfect for walking everywhere. We were sorry we only had one night there.

I stayed here a few months ago on a brief trip to Paris a city I know well, I reserved this hotel as I had a meeting only minutes walk away from its location. Firstly the reception team couldn't be nicer and breakfast had a nice selection which included a varied selection for different palets. On the down side the... More

We spent 4 nights in our very comfortable 4th floor room. The room was clean & colorful with plenty of storage space for our belongings. We took advantage of the large windows to enjoy the spring breezes. Who knew we'd be staying on the sight of the ancient forum of Lutece! The neighborhood is a goldmine for tourists: Pantheon &... Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
