We booked direct, and asked for a room that was high up, facing the street, and with a bath. Amazingly (baths being rather rare and special in Paris hotel rooms) we got exactly that. We stayed on the 4th floor in room 42, which is small, a bit scruffy, but with views out over the streets below and well-glazed windows... More

Like any hotel in a big city, exoect a small.room. That being said, ours was well laid out and comfortable. The proprieters speak several languages fluently and are very helpful. The locstion is ideal, within easy walking distance of the Ile de Citie and major attractions like the Louvre. We quite enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here... More

We were travelling with our two older teens and wanted to make sure we got rooms next to one another and also that the kids each had their own bed. The staff could not have been more helpful when I emailed them (several times!) booking us into Rooms 62 and 63 - which were across the hall from one another... More

We were so fortunate to have wonderful and helpful staff like Gladys and Nicholas! Also, the owner Eric, took me by the arm outside to show me directions to get the bus to Gare d'Lyon -which is only 10 minutes by bus. Room was a bit small but was very clean and nice to have a mini-fridge, since we also... More

This is the third time we have stayed in this charming family owned Hotel and it didn't disappoint - we LOVE it. It is so central and an easy walk to all the inner City attractions and tourist destinations. The staff are friendly and helpful and all speak English. The rooms are small but quaint and the one we stay... More

Stayed overnight is this little family run hotel. The location is excellent, just a few minutes stroll to Notre Dame. The hotel is situated on a pleasant street, and is conveniently located for catching the metro. The room itself was quite small, but had everything that you needed including a mini fridge and air conditioning. Staff were very helpful, all... More

We've stayed here for 4 nights. Rooms was really tiny, but it wasnt a problem because we've spent all the time in the city. Pillows are not very comfortable, but the bed was OK. Also there is a safe in the closet. They change towels on your demand (only if they are on the floor). NOTICE: there is no ironing... More

I've just come back from 3 days at this hotel with my husband. The location is great, there are plenty of local places to eat and it's near the beautiful Jardin des Plantes. Breakfast is simple but the bread is fresh and the coffee is good. Excellent value for money. I only wish we'd had a room with a balcony... More

We checked in to Familia Hotel intending to stay for only a few days and ended up staying a whole week! The location of this hotel is fantastic. It's in the Latin Quarter, far enough away from the fray to be quiet and safe but within easy walking distance of Notre Dame. We had a little balcony that overlooked the... More

A year ago we stayed for the first time at the Familia Hotel. We decided to return to Paris this year and stayed a week ago for a second time at the Familia Hotel for four nights, room 21 with a charming balcony overlooking the street. We enjoyed wine and people watching on our balcony after returning from a wonderful... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
