The room was nicely decorate but was very noisy (first floor on a busy road) after looking more closely at the window the doubled glazed wooden window did not close properly. We told the staff which could not move us to another room so we had to spend the night in this room, needless to say we did not sleep... More

Finding a fun, welcoming place in Paris for a family with kids isn't obvious and Le Citizen was a great experience. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and make you great breakfasts. There are lots of lovely little touches like the free mini bar and the little baked goodies popped in your room daily. The rooms aren't huge,... More

The hotel is small though very charming. You get exactly what you need in a hotel. Beds are really confortable. Breakfast is very good and charming. The neibourghood is great, next to Esat station and right at the canal st martin. Charming location.

I stayed at Le Citizen for just one night a couple of weeks ago. It was a gorgeous little boutique hotel in a nice location. The bed was super duper comfy and the room was clean and neatly presented. The staff were very friendly and made me feel at home. Thanks for a great stay Le Citizen!

Three of us ended up in Paris after cycling from Dieppe over 3 days. We were hoping that our final hotel would be a good place to rest and celebrate the trip. Well it was much better than expected. Free beer and snacks in the mini bar, a brilliant shower and comfortable beds: what more could you ask for! The... More

We stayed here for two nights on a weekend in July 2015. We have visited Paris many times and have stayed in various boutique/design hotels as well as more classical hotels. A problem with hotels in Paris is price/quality. Often one pays excessively for 'location' and a particular 'local' charm which does not always translate in a comfortable stay. Beds... More

Le Citizen is a fun boutique hotel with tiny but well appointed rooms. We enjoyed discovering a new neighborhood in Paris. The Canal St Martin feels like the Brooklyn of Paris. It's younger and hipper than the more central arrondissements, however, it isn't terribly central, for those who prefer being in the heart of Paris. That said, it's not a... More

You simply can't go wrong with this hotel if you are looking for a small hotel in a vibrant neighborhood. The hotel is right across the street from the St Martin Canal, you can watch the street closure and boats go through the locks from your window! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The staff is super attentive. The... More

Great hotel in Paris. Location was a little far from the sites but the Paris Metro is very good and makes all the sites easily accessable. The hotel staff spent time with teaching us how to use the metro. They were very patient. The breakfast was excellent and included eggs made to order. The contents of the mini bar was... More

We were very pleased with our choice to stay in Hotel Le Citizen. It is located on the Canal St. Martin in Paris, plenty central but at least a little removed from the throngs of tourists. The room itself (we chose the "City L," one of the bigger options) was beautiful. The mini bar and iPad -- both included in... More

Staying in Canal Saint-Martin

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighborhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.
