My husband and I were in Paris for Easter. We have been many times in Paris but are still struggling to find the perfect hotel - rooms in Paris tend to be small and expensive. Not sure this is the perfect hotel, but we did have a lovely stay. As we were kind of celebrating, we had booked the junior... More

A small boutique hotel just in the heart of saint Germaine district on the left bank . Old typical Parisian building . Nice rooms with rich amenities. No buffet breakfast but good a la cart food . Staff nice and friendly . Ask for high floor room with view . Quite good value for money .

My wife and I were in Paris for a week on an anniversary vacation. We picked HM because of its location, right on the edge of the 6th but away from the typical tourist chaos. The hotel has beautifully classic rooms, staff who could could not be any nicer or more helpful and a location on a quiet street 1... More

The Montalembert is in a perfect location, within minutes of Rue du Bac and Boulevard St. Germaine. All of the major tourist destinations are easily accessible; even by foot. St Germaine des Pres still has the quaint shops and bookstores which have disappeared from Manhattan. The restaurants in the neighborhood are very good and extremely reasonable in price (especially the... More

Terrible. Left hotel an hour after arriving. My wife and I stayed here 25 years ago before we were married and loved it. My wife who was on business in Paris, and as a surprise, booked this hotel. When we arrived reception and lunch were lovely. We were shown to our room. It was tiny, very old fashioned and tired.... More

The Montalembert is in Paris St Germain, 200m from the underground station Rue de Bac, short walk to Musey D'Orsay. The Montalembert is like a small Boutique Hotel, a fine line between classic and modern. The staff is very friendly and helpful, always available and they speak "all" languages. The room is small but top and the bathroom is very... More

Spent a couple of days sightseeing in Paris. Very good location. Room small(ish), but big for Paris, and bathrooms relatively very generous. Staff (especially concierge Sophie - full of good ideas) most helpful. Easy walking to Seine, Musee D'Orsay, Louvre etc.

The weeks of researching our first trip to Paris in more than a decade paid off thanks in part to this excellent hotel. The room was actually larger than I thought it might be, the location allowed us to walk all over the city and catch the metro with ease. Thank you to the lovely staff, who spoiled us with... More

Stayed here 4 times now. Love it. Our favourite hotel in Paris. Fantastic location. Just minutes from the Lourve and D'Orsay. Highly recommend it. Book a room at the front of then hotel. Can't wait to go back in July

We first stayed at Montalembert over 15 years ago, so I was delighted to discover that on subsequent visits the level of service had not diminished. This neighbourhood is one of my favourites, with plenty of good restaurants, galleries and unique boutiques within walking distance of the hotel. However, it is the unobtrusive service that makes one return to this... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
