Based on the ratings we saw on Hostelworld.com, my son and I felt this hostel was a bit overrated. We climbed 4 flights of stairs, a very small, tight spiral staircase with luggage from a whole semester abroad, no one from reception offered to help. The room was adequate, but there are small things they could do to improve. A... More

Great service with friendly staff who were always available when requested. Towels are provided, and replaced daily. Great location, near to the metro and Moulin Rouge. Staff always went the extra mile to please! Rooms are small, but this is the norm for most hostels in Paris.

Strategically located in the lovely neighbourhood of Montmarte with easy access. A short walk from the metro. Plenty of cafes and dining options nearby. Space seems to be a scarcity in this hostel. Everything here seems to be on a small side. Room is clean but small, so is the bathroom. The elevator is definitely the smallest I have ever... More

We loved the neighborhood. Nice location in Montmartre, close from the metro. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is OK. Rooms are tiny but that was not a problem for us. When we go back to Paris we will probaby stay at Plug-Inn again.

Some people may not be aware of this, but many hotels in Paris are known for being insanely tiny and this place is another example of this. That's not to say it is a bad thing though. I actually see it as charming. The elevator could barely even fit me and my one backpack haha. My roommate and I took... More

I enjoyed my stay at the Plug Inn Hostel. As others have said the accommodations are small. I'm just over 6'2" and the elevator was so small I had to walk in sideways because my shoulders were too broad to fit through the door or turn once inside. The toilet in my room I could put my wrist on the... More

This was one of the worst experiences I've had at a hostel to date. The staff member that checked me in was both arrogant and down right rude when I first entered and my impression of them didn't change when I asked for help finding my way using the Metro. They put me in a coed room, despite my having... More

Most importantly in my book, the place is very clean. The rooms are small, and there is a brief lock-out period midday each day, but these are small trade-offs for such a well-kept property. Every single day, the room was deep cleaned. This makes the small space very livable, especially when living with strangers. The mattresses are not plush, but... More

We shared a three bedroom, with bunk beds and a tiny shower. However, the location is amazing, only a few minutes from Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge. It might be not the most luxurious hotel, but the locaton can't be beaten, especially for the price.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
