I stayed in this hotel with my wife and 3 adult kids (19, 19 & 21) for 2 nights. The room was very very basic, but clean. The price was very reasonable, compared to the cost of most hotels in Paris. Good location in the Latin Quarter, short walk to subway and bus service to Orly airport. Nice neighborhood. Included... More

This place was disappointing as I had booked this hotel after reading multiple reviews. I'll not term it as a hotel, its a bed & breakfast. Rooms are very small, breakfast: average (was difficult to eat the same thing daily). Good Points: Close to metro station, great neighbourhood, safe place. Staff is helpful

Sharad83, First of all, thank you for taking the time to write your comment. We were sorry to learn that your were not completely satisfied with your stay at Solar Hotel. It is true that we are a familiar and economic hotel. The low and competitive prices are set accordingly with the size of the rooms. However, we thank you... More

Solar Hotel is wonderfully located - less than five minute walk to Denfert Rochereau and sites in Paris are literally a metro ride away. The room is clean and simple, neighborhood is safe and there is a great market on the street. The staff are cheerful and able to communicate in English to varying levels. The breakfast is great -... I stayed here for 4 days in the last week of July. Very good location (5min walk to tube and 5min to catacombes). clean rooms and cordial staff; always ready to help with everything. the only glitch was they did not operate the aircon properly so the room was a heater given the weather. but def a good hotel :)

This was a wonderful hotel. Very simple and clean. We had a little balcony looking out over the hotel's lovely patio/garden. The location was ideal as it was close to RER/train station. We loved the Montparnasse area and all the cafes and markets close by. For the cost our room and breakfast were perfect. Clean and comfy. Price and location... More

We were so excited to stay in a hotel with an Eco consciousness. We were barely even greeted never mind welcomed. We had booked two rooms and we had to remove hair from the shower drain in both of them! There was no way to wipe down the bathroom floor after showering so the floor was perpetually wet. We used... To set expectations: the rooms are basic and small, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the garden and breakfast area are lovely, and the included breakfast is delicious. What makes this such a find is the price & location - it's in a beautiful neighborhood just outside the center of the city, one... More

We stay in Paris for 2-nights at least once a year. We have stayed in many 2-star hotels all over Paris. We were told of this hotel by friends. I found the hotel rooms to be large in comparison, simply appointed and more than sufficient for just sleeping in. WIFI is available in the breakfast room which overlooks a lovely... More

We liked their commitment to environmental principles, the stay was extremely pleasant, the breakfasts were enjoyable and healthy, and the staff was helpful. However, they may need to follow through on their principles a bit more. For example, they asked guests to inform them if there were any leaks, in order to save water. We did inform them, but nothing... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
