Every time I come to Paris I stay at this hotel. The staff are kind, the price is right, the location is easy to get to, and the nearby pedestrian street is full of restaurants where you can dine. Additionally the coffee is delicious, the baguettes and croissants are plentiful, and the bio soaps and shampoos smell divine.

This was a small boutique hotel, that catered to a French clientele. Its signature was being eco-friendly, which I wasn't thrilled about. For example, the AC was only run when the temperature was consistently over 85F outside, and our sheets were only washed once a week. Some visitors may be comfortable with this, but it was a bit of surprise... More

The whole concept of this hotel is excellent. It is unfortunate that fans are not available in the heat of summer and I would advise anyone booking this hotel to ask for a room at the back since the window must be open for air and it is noisy on the street with a late bar/restaurant across the way. My... More

Me and my girlfriend had a very pleasant week in the Hotel Solar. I had initially found the hotel by googling Paris hotels with bicycle storage (not easy to find in the city), as we arrived by bike from the Eurostar and continued by bike to Holland after Paris. The hotel stores its own free-to-use bikes in the garden, so... More

The location is really good: nice district with good connections and lots of original shops and restaurants. The hotel itself... hmm... could be better. I had a feeling like the idea of being "Eco" was just an excuse to save the money (for breakfast they often gave us bread and croissants from the day before, while the staff was eating... More

This hotel was a breath of fresh air, friendly, nice rooms, good breakfast and close to everything. I have already given the details out to friends. To the person who says it is a B&B, clearly you don't understand French hotels only international ones and french Breakfasts are what you get there, Croissant and bread with coffee. I just wish... Simple but good rooms with breakfast. WiFi available but only in the breakfast area and garden. Free bicycles and small garden. Convenient location, close to the Denfert-Rochereau station. Many restaurants and shops nearby in the lively Montparnasse neighbourhood.

We were put in the annexe which has no lift but that wasn't a problem. The lack of any way to cool down was however a major problem. There is no aircon in the annexe and that's OK given that it's meant to be an environmentally aware business but fans should be available in the extreme heat that we encountered.... More

Stayed for 10 nights in July 2015. The big negative I would say is the air conditioning is only turned on when the temp hits about 90 or above and is turned off at night if temp drops. We were there during a heat wave and this made for some very uncomfortable nights trying to sleep. Also the Wi-Fi does... More

Very good location, 10 minutes walk to Montparnasse and Denfert-Rochereau stations for direct access to the airports and Versailles. Quiet, yet colorful neighborhood, very good value for Paris. Delicious breakfast with bio products, free bicycles for guests, wonderful little garden. Cozy, simple, clean and comfortable room. Interesting ecological concept.

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
