This is adjacent to one of the several entrances to the Chateau but also very close to the main eating/bars area. It is a pleasant hotel with good sized rooms. Mine unfortunately smelt very strongly of cigarrette smoke - but then that's France (even with smoking ban). It doesn't have a swimming pool which was rather irritating as it was... more

We chose Fontainebleau for the last night of our two-week visit to France for its relative convenience to Orly airport. Plus, we wanted to see the Chateau before we left the country. Aigle Noir proved to be a lovely choice for our final evening. The hotel is well-located right across the street to the Chateau, and there's an underground parking... more

We arrived at Aigle Noir late Sunday morning and had realized during our journey that we had left our passports in the safe at our previous hotel. We were greeted at the Aigle Noir by the owner, Michelle Scott, who we explained our predicament to. Michelle was fantastic as she organised to get our passports delivered via courier to her... more

Staff is friendly professional and efficient, and the location is good. Parking for 10 euros in the underground garage in front of the hotel. However, the building is old and our bathroom sink drained extremely slowly, making it unsanitary and generally not easy to use. Bathroom alone made me feel like I was staying in a 2-star hotel. Otherwise a... more

I found this hotel at a Booking website and was jumping for joy when I saw the very low price for this superb hotel (100 Euro, whereas the rack rate is 170). It is very elegant, friendly, opposite the Fontainebleau palace. 3 stars, but that would be 4 stars in other countries and actually a signpost nearby shows 4 stars.... more

An old, elegant hotel situated directly opposite the palace. We parked in the underground car park and were told by the hotel that they had a special rate rather than the usual 14 euro daily charge. In the end we were charged nothing! Our room, overlooking the front of the hotel was quiet, large and comfortable. Free WiFi and tea/coffee... more

This was a gem of a hotel which booking through their website gave us a great rate compared to their advertised ones. We actually got a 'standard room' which was like a suite with a seperate lounge area. It was a delight to stay in such a unique hotel with such lovely communial areas as well. more
