The location couldn't be better. The décor is very tasteful and suitable for a very old amazing, authentic building. Lots of stairs so wouldn't be suitable for less mobile but helped keep us fit. Had a wonderful well equipped apartment for a week. Bastia ideal as a base for touring north Corsica. Loads of restaurants nearby - spoilt for choice.... More

It was a bit of a shock when I first arrived at this hotel late on a hot humid night in August. I was expecting something more modern, more chain, more ersatz. I checked in at the small counter with an old man who spoke no English and climbed upstairs to my room praying for aircon. There was only a... More

We stayed at Hotel Central twice during our trip to Corsica this summer: once at the beginning of our trip (pre-GR20) and second at the end of our hike. Both experiences were great. Helpful service and they allowed us to leave our additional bag with them during the time between our visits (no small feat as it was huge and... More

Considering there is not a big variety of hotels in Bastia we chose Hotel Central based on tripadvisor reviews. We felt that EUR 150 are overpriced for this tiny room without air condition. Unfortunately, there are not that many alternatives in Bastia.

This hotel is very centrally located in Bastia - just a very short walk from the main square / Place Saint Nicolas. Some traffic in adjacent roads, but we didn't experience traffic noise as a problem at night. Located in an old six story building the hotel uses only the 1st and 2nd floor. Other floors are apartments (I think).... More

Could not be better located, 1 block from the main square yet quiet at night; no sea views (balcony with view on semi-quiet street with interesting street life, though). Room was average size, charmingly decorated in a bit of a "shabby chic" style, building and room had lovely period details (wonderful central staircase, pretty breakfast room and small garden in... Central convenience of this hotel is ideal, within easy walking of all local amenities, local transport and shops. However the rather dated presentation of this old style venue is a bit of a problem in some ways. The traditional décor is interesting, but quite dreary and drab - some may say quaint, but for others not comfortable enough in up... More

the first night I spent in Corsica was in this hotel - that being said, the thing to do in Corsica is definitely camping, not hotels. But this hotel was perfect for our arrival - centrally located (hence the name, although not actually in the most atmospheric part of Bastia, the citadel), professional staff, cute interior. they chilled the wine... Bastia is a lovely city, and Hotel Central is perfectly situated for exploring it. It is a large, old, atmospheric apartment building with a central staircase worn down by generations of footsteps. The floors are beautifully tiled. The building houses residential units as well as rooms for tourists. Traveling off-season, we were kindly upgraded to a suite, which was more... More

This place is very central and has a lovely old mansion feel to it. The floors are tiled and the rooms have balconies. Our room was fairly generous in size and although there is no air conditioning, the fan kept us cool even though we couldn't quite get used to the whirring noise. Breakfast and parking are not included. However... More
