On the plus side: the location was excellent, next to the train station right in the centre of the town. Staff were friendly, room was fairly clean. There was some double glazing which kept down the noise from the street.Dining room looked nice, but did not use it so can't say. The whole place might have been modern in 1970,... More

We came across this hotel by chance on a long road trip back from Italy, on our way to Troyes but we were so tired we stopped on our way out of Chaumont. We asked for a basic double room which was very good. The windows were double-glazed and the room was clean and absolutely fine for a stop-over. The... More

This hotel is really typical and the people are very friendly. Choose a renovated room (because of the windows, which are stopping street noise). You are in a beautiful little city, and the people love hunting. So, if you don't like the hunting, it is better to go elsewhere. The city of Chaumont have a lot of very old and... More

The hotel is conveniently situated by the railway station and close to the centre of Chaumont. However, it is in dire need of refurbishment. The reception is flamboyantly decorated with all manner of memorabilia, which may not be to everyone's taste. The rooms are located off dark and garishly decorated corridors, which feel a little dank. The rooms, themselves, are... More

Advertised as a three star elegant establishment, our disappointment at checking in and searching for the room along dark corridors with garish paintwork, to a sparse room with orange and red nylon bedcover and curtains was enormous. Shower didn't work, bathroom had a sliver of soap and altogether it was a tatty venue. It was clean, one good thing. Staff... More

We came over to France skiing and wanted a quick stop halfway back . We thought this would be suitable enough for one night! How wrong we were! Just some of the aspects that were not appealing were; Small shower, toilet didn't flush, awful dashing coloured walls i.e red and yellow, €5 for parking in an old garage, appalling African... More

Have stayed here a few times and always excellent. Good size, clean room and comfortable bed and very enjoyable Saturday morning breakfast. Quiet and good price.Has a large garage also. Location is good as a stop over from Calais on way to Italy.

Room overpriced by about forty euros; miniscule, drab, cold, dank and noisy. Staff sullen, condescending and unhelpful. The one open restaurant was an appalling but mercifully cheap pizzeria, where I ate the the most disgusting salad I've ever eaten, followed by the most disgusting spaghetti carbonara I've ever eaten. The breakfast was the usual unloved array of bread, croissants and... More

When we arrived at the hotel, it was obvious that some major renovation at the hotel was going on. As a consequence two of the three restaurants of the hotel were closed. Drilling started at 08.45 in the morning up to 16.00 in the afternoon. None of this was mentioned at the hotel website as it should. The staff were... More

We stayed here on a Saturday night and paid 89 euros for a double room with no breakfast included, parking was another 5 euros and tax 0.80 cents each! This tourist tax was dearer than the South of France from where we had been on holiday. The room itself was clean but very very tired, and the walls in this... More
