The hotel is very conveniently situated, and approached through magnificent grounds with carpets of wild cyclamens, and the main building and aspects do not disappoint. As a late booking, we fully expected to be accommodated in the grounds rather than the hotel, and this was the case. We had a room in what may have been a converted stable block,... More

I usually love TripAdvisor, but it really threw me for a loop on this one. We are a family of four who have traveled extensively in France. We usually stay at Relais & Chateaux or similar properties, but decided to give this property a chance based on the glowing reviews on this website. This hotel was a real disappointment for... More

Madam, Lucky we are to receive regularly nice comments from our clients to compensate the very rude one you wrote about us. From the moment you walked in, we could feel - because of your haughty attitude - that Tortinière would not meet your expectations. We do not think it is necessary to answer to all your nasty lines but... More

The Domaine de la Tortinière is a gorgeous property with a lot of character and nice, service-minded staff. We were lucky to be upgraded to a lovely big room in one of the towers of the main château, and of course the majority of the rooms are smaller. But there is a long list of pros at this hotel: PROS... More

A wonderful and beautiful castle with enormous gardens and woods, great swimming pool, and very tastefully decorated and updated. The castle did a perfect job adding the restaurant (with great food), since you do not see the modern restaurant until you stumble into it. Perfect. The rooms are well decorated and appointed. There is airco and the beds are comfortable.... More

This fabulous chateau is located on a beautiful piece of private property, with massive trees, great lawns, and far reaching views of other chateaux on opposite hills. We had our salads brought to a table under the trees, and later enjoyed a nice dinner in the restaurant. Champagne on the terrace in the evening. We also took a cab into... More

We stayed in room 4, in the middle of the castle (the room with the balcony overlooking the back of the building). The staff was welcoming and helpful. Our room was very nice, with everything one would need. The view was incredible! The breakfast was a little pricy, and somewhat disappointing, but I'm not complaining. You need a car to... More

My husband booked this as a break in our drive to Bergerac. We were completely bowled over firstly by the Chateau itself, the Loire valley it is nestled in and by the friendliness of the staff . The lady who took us to our room offered us an upgrade us. For an extra £35 pounds we said yes immediately when... More

We stayed there while we explored the Loire valley. The Chateau itself is very beautiful. But the chambre room is in another building, and although fully decorated, it feels a bit too small as if it's where the servants used to stay in. The real problem was that the air-conditioning did not work when we returned late at night after... More

It was so hard to peel ourselves away from this beautiful chateau with its lovely grounds and return to Australia! It is such a special place. We would definitely recommend this to others. We stayed here for the last three nights of our wonderful holiday in France. It was the perfect place to relax, refresh ourselves and enjoy the beautiful... More

The hotel staff was great. The location is perfect and the view from the pool is fantastic. My only criticism is that the selection of food at breakfast was not very extensive. If you can, book the suite. The view from the room is fabulous and you sleep in one of the towers.
