The Hotel de l'Univers seems to be an old hotel being brought, rather abruptly, into the 21st century. The signs of refurbishment and reconstruction are everywhere -- rooms not quite finished, a lobby being painted, etc. That said, the result,s even though partial, are very encouraging. We certainly had a comfortable experience, enhanced by the hotel''s extremely convenient location next... More

Hotel is right in the center of town. Staff friendly and helpful. Free wifi, AC in the room, and a rather large room for a European hotel. Comfortable bed, flat screen tv, and really quiet! The bathroom shower had two heads - nice! Didn't try the breakfast - didn't want to pay for it. There is parking, but it can... More

After the renovation rooms are excellent. Hotel is in a good location. very close to the railway station. lot of food joints nearby. Rooms are very spacious, neat and clean.. I have been staying in this hotel for the past several years, during my business trips. Reception staff, bar attender, restaurant guys are all very cooperative and supportive..

Whilst shopping in Tours, I stopped for lunch at the hotel L’Univers, just opposite from the impressive Town Hall. I was very pleased that I did. The restaurant is called "La Touraine". It is rather traditionally decorated, but the cuisine there is far from traditional. I found it to be imaginative and every aspect of it excellent. The staff were... More

Many times we stayed at this hotel, its location for discovering Tours is excellent, in spring and summer when the trees on the boulevards have their full leave-crowns the site is really marvelous.Inside this is really a nice hotel with nicely renovated rooms. The reception-desk personel is without exception very friendly. A big plus is the garage for your car,... More

This hotel is full of character which made a pleasant change, high ceiling, paneling and an impressive staircase in the entrance hall. True there is evidence of "shabbiness" in the public areas, particularly the cosy bar but this adds to the feel of the place, I hope they do not renovate too vigorously. The lift could be described as erratic,... More

We had a nice room on the fourth floor. It was clean and modern with a comfortable King-sized bed. The bathroom was also modern with a towel heater, a large glass-walled shower with a "rain shower" head. The hotel is right in the heart of the town, close to everything. there is not much to complain about here; it is... More

Very basic hotel near the train station. The superior room class doesn't include coffee maker or mini fridge. We had to request ice, slippers and extra soap for the room. The shower and toilet are in separate rooms. The lobby needs major renovation. The room itself has been renovated and is clean. Didn't see any bellman or concierge when we... More

We stayed at Oceania L'Univers for two nights while travelling from Paris to Bordeaux. Our room was very spacious and clean, with high-ceilings and a luxurious bathroom. We didn't get the hotel parking but there is public parking just up the street. Very accomodating concierge who had a handy little map of Tours, and provided us with several good dining... More

We had an executive room on the 3rd floor or 2nd as the Europeans call it. It had high ceilings with a French window opening out to a small balcony. It felt airy and bright but the courtyard view wasn’t the greatest. The room has a very generous size and is worth the extra amount. We had a rental car... More
