Friends have recommended Loches, and this hotel, as a good place for an overnight stop when travelling between London and Bordeaux. It is lovely little city with beautiful castle area for a quick bit of sightseeing. Also a good range of little restaurants (from Italian to Chinese and more than enough creperies) within a few minutes walk of the hotel.... More

Traditional old French hotel which could do with some updating. Overlooking lovely public gardens and river at the back. Great view of this if you stood on a chair and poked your head out of the velux window. No lift, very narrow and steep stone spiral staircase (34 steps to 2nd floor) quite a challenge for older people like us,... More

Sure, it's quirky, but that's the charm! We arrived around 5pm at a time when the reception desk is open and were warmly greeted. Our reservation was right there and we were given the key to our room along with the hotel key for access when the reception desk is closed. Our room was very comfortable for the 3 of... More

We booked in advance One month ahead a room with 4 beds. We chose to disregard the reviews as we had stayed at the hotel before when it was a logis . We arrived at the hotel at 1530 after a 12 hr journey from the uk . The hotel was closed with a sign saying to ring x2 nos... More

We stayed here as a family about ten years ago (I must have been very young) and we had a delightful experience with the George Sand and a stunning meal. We decided this year we would return to Loches and try this hotel again... we noticed an increasing number of bad reviews but decided to try and ignore them. We... More

This hotel is close by the old part of Loches. It is situated in an old building and we had to climb to the second floor on a circular stairway as if we were in a tower. The room was comfortable but basic. Staff were helpful. The main attraction for us was the restaurant as we arrived after 19.00 and... More

Having lived very close to Loches, Verneuil sur Indre, previously I was well aware of this hotel and of it proximity to the river, town etc. Having to return to the region for a little business I had many offers of places to stay from friends still there but decided I would rather 'go it alone' and decided to stay... Out family stayed 1 night in this hotel as we were on route to a family wedding, It was pleasant if not a little dated but thats part of the charm, some rooms overlook the river. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. The owners were very charming, even overcoming the language barrier, I... More

Loches is a delightful ancient town, with steep cobbled streets. It seems it's difficult to find a decent hotel, at a reasonable price (and with car-parking nearby): as proved by the Hotel George Sand. Our welcome was warm and friendly. We were able to unload directly outside but were then directed to a public car-park behind the hotel. Fortunately, this... More

We arrived in Loches and went to the Tourism Office. They referred us to two hotels. We chose this one. Upon arrival, the desk clerk was very friendly and spoke English. We were offered two rooms. The room we chose was 88 Euros and was magnificent! Later, when we unloaded our stuff, the new desk clerk did not speak English... More
