Hosts Philippe and Christine have restored their 'little castle' with fantastic results. The property is well located, if not a little tricky to find initially. Our room was lovely, and we were surprised to find tea and coffee making facilities with a mini fridge, a rare find in accom houses in France. Christine provides a wonderful breakfast. The hosts also... More

We really enjoyed every part of our trip to Loches. What a beautiful town! We stayed in Balzac's Library overlooking the garden and the village beyond. The rooms here are all beautifully appointed and at the end of a day exploring the Loire Valley it is a wonderful base to come back to and relax.

We stayed for 2 nights in Balzac's Library- a beautifully decorated room restored to perfection overlooking the beautiful garden and valley. Philippe gave us a great history lesson of the house and the area when we arrived which made our stay more memorable. We stayed at the Knight Cottage (le Gite du Chevalier) of l'Argentier du Roy for an all too brief week in May 2014.  The apartment is incredible, the description on the website does not mislead.  We particularly enjoyed the apartment’s beauty and how well kept it is.  Everything functions perfectly.  The terrace is incredible.  We loved being able to walk... What a perfect place, with its own fascinating history, beautiful design and most of all its hosts, Christine and Philippe, who restored and decorated this place almost completely with their own hands. We were the other half of the two couples described below and I got kudos from all for having found this wonderful b&b in the middle of medieval... More

We spent a week at the gite attached to the chateau in June and it really is lovely. Great location, with shops and restaurants a few minutes walk away down a lovely cobbled street. The garden is great - we ate outside either lunch or dinner every day and the loungers are extremely comfortable to lie and read a book.... More
