stayed 3 nights here. garden nice for simple dinner. (plastic chairs) hotel itself cosy but noisy . free parking no fan in rooms, so it can be very hot during summer. drinks are very expensive, 2 capucinnos for 12 euros, 1 aqua mineral for 5.5 eur. just used the hotel to start our bike round trips in the beautiful area.

This was our second time at the Hostel du Roy and both times have been very enjoyable. It is within a ten minute walk of the chateau, one of the most beautiful ones in the Loire valley with fantastic gardens and a storied past. We chose it because it was central to the chateaux we wanted to visit. The rooms... More

We stayed in the annex, just down the street from the reception, right on the main street. Our very small room was at the back on the ground floor and although small, was suitable. The room was clean and we had a window out the back which was excellent for drying clothes. The bathroom was pretty dark with a bath,... More

I loved everything about this charming family owned hotel. I stayed for 4 nights while visiting the general area. The room was clean, tastefully decorated with a modern bathroom and very quiet. The hotel staff was friendly and polite. It is located only a two minute walk from Chateau Chanonceau and very close to vineyards, forests with hiking trails and... More

The interior decorator of this hotel really went to town with their love for wallpaper. I counted six different ones from the door of the annexe to our room which had pink and purple wallpaper. The garden behind the hotel was pretty, the beer cheap and the food good BUT it was so noisy in the annexe, due to the... More

This is not a four-star hotel but the rooms are very comfortable and the staff is friendly. We enjoyed one dinner in the downstairs restaurant as well as our breakfasts at the patisserie across the street. The castle is right down the road and the town itself is lovely. Don't fret about the bad reviews. The family suite worked out... More

From the reviews on trip advisor we arrived at this hostel not expecting too much. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large and very clean, with ample storage opportunities. The staff were friendly, helping us carry our suitcases up the stairs. The wifi worked well and was surprisingly quick. The location was excellent, right next to the Chateau!... More

Hostel du Roy is a budget minded tourist hotel right next to the famous Chateau de Chenonceau. It is a great value. We had dinner, breakfast and the room for the same price we paid for a room elsewhere in France. It is not luxurious: thread worn rugs on wooden floors, thin walls, terrible beds, a small table and chair.... More

We were expecting a simple hotel , but it actually was a lot sadder than in the photos . It was around the corner from Chenonceau which was great but there are much nicer hotels for almost the same price in the same area . We booked to stay for 4 nights and we were driving from Normandy and due... More

what can you say about the Hostel du Roy? very pretty from the outside, you park around the back of the Hostel and walk along the high street for about fifty yards with your cases.after booking in with the surly "Madame" on the reception,we then discovered we were staying in the annexe whose decoration can only be described as shabby...
