We traveled in August 2014, wrote a review immediately after we got back, but my original post was somehow lost even after it had gained a helpful vote. I feel so strongly about it that I decide to re-post my review. Here's our experience with this hotel: We had truly looked forward to our stay in Chartres. But it only... More

Have read some of the reviews of this place and I wonder what some people expect for the money. Its a beautiful old building right next to the cathedral. The rooms are basic but clean and with the shutters for curtains and a lovely view over the town it really does feel french and not a touristy place. Its full... More

It was a monastic seminary when built centuries ago. It now houses the diocesan archives and library, a little chapel, conference rooms and a bed and breakfast establishment. It was in keeping that my room was a little cellular. At 61.64 euros for one for a night and breakfast it is good value. Don't expect top comfort but it all... More

The initial reception was fine but on going to our room we found a large - bland - COLD ! room. I felt like a Monk in my cell. Enquiries at reception for "chauffage" ( the large radiator was stone cold) were met with a "No". My request for an electric heater was met with a "No". I was though,... More

First of all I'd like to say that the staff is very friendly, as well as professional and customer oriented. The hotel is very well situated, very close to the cathedral, which is very convenient. A little tricky to find, but not a problem with a GPS. Unfortunately, I found the hotel's equipment to be a bit unsatisfactory. The bathroom... More

The position is perfect for seeing Chartres and full of character. It wasn't hard to find at all, just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong. Leaving again was easier because you don't have to go through the barrier again. The room is undoubtedly basic and the shower room resembled one you might find on board ship, but it... More

really nice hotel situated next door to the cathedral. it is tricky to find and the streets are VERY narrow to access via car. but well worth the effort. reception warm and friendly with plenty of tourist information given and leaflets supplied in english. rooms are large and airy with lovely views. we had a twin room and everything was... I've stayed here many times, and I love how convenient and comfortable it is. The rooms are simple and rather spare, but very clean and comfortable; somehow they fit with the monastic history of the building while still being warm and comfortable. Every room I've ever stayed in has had a good view of either the cathedral or the city... More

A large hotel only metres away from the Cathedral. We were welcomed by a bat flying around the reception which only added to it's character. The room was basic but adequate, I think that some rooms offer a television - we would have liked a kettle and some tea making facilities (but that's the English for you). A breakfast buffet... The hotel was a little hard to find but is a nice, large hotel with free parking & wifi. It is really close to some great restaurants with delicious traditional French foods. The hotel is quiet and in a nice location very close to the cathedral making it easy to view more than once (it is so beautiful at night... More
