My family and I have decided to go here to visit the near castle, at the reception an indian speaks very bad english and he gave us the room number 40, it was orrible with very bad smell. The restaurant was expensive and poor. Bad service. The only good thing is that it is the nearest hotel to the castle... More

No arguing that this hotel has the most spectacular setting right next to the Chateaux , service was helpful and friendly and sitting on the terrace with an aperitif was lovely. We asked to change the first room we were shown as it was small, dark and rather depressing the second was better although it was all rather tired and... More

I stayed one night (two days) in Chambord and found the hotel very comfortable. It was expensive for the quality of the lodgings (but the restaurant was top notch and the staff treated me very well. I had a chateau view room but was a bit disappointed to see scaffolding from my window (ahh historical landmarks). The chateau was beautiful... More

We really enjoyed our overnight stay, the location is stunning, the restaurant is very good but do expect the rooms to be in need of renovation. If you go prepared for this then the price is not too bad. If the hotel was fully renovated then you can double the price !

Our family of four (including two teenagers) stayed here for one night in early July 2014. The location was very special, as it provided views of and access to the grounds of the Chateau in the evening and early morning. This allowed for a lovely bike ride in the evening. We had two rooms in order to accommodate the four... More

The magnificent position, yards from Chateau Chambord, makes the Grand St Michel an ideal base to explore the chateau and its extensive grounds. You need some time as the Chateau is immense - 440 rooms. . Getting to the hotel is a little tricky - you have to turn into the second car park, go to the end and on... More

This is a charming hotel that is located directly across from Chateau Chambord. It is walking distance to Chambord, which is a beautiful chateau and worth at least 1/2 to tour. The hotel has convenient (and free) parking. There is nothing better than sitting at their restaurant (which was quite good and affordable). I sat outside, had a wonderful dinner,... More

*Hotel Review - Hotel Grand St. Michel - by Top Contributor AngryAngMo* We stayed here for 1 night on our trip from Paris to La Rochelle, passing most of the castles in the valley. Chambord is one of the most outstanding, just because its situated alone in a huge park, with nothing but greenery around it. The hotel is directly... More

Hotel is right next to Chateau on what must be original grounds. Great view of Chateau. Chambord is really not a typical village There are a few souvenir shops that close around 6pm and the hotel. Staying at the hotel makes walking the Chateau grounds after all the tourists leave a delightful experience. At sunset and dawn the light on... More

This is an old syle (early 20th century) resort hotel. It's kind of interesting as an historic study. We enjoyed our stay here, although in honesty, we only stayed here because it started raining and we were on bikes. The staff are very pleasant. The room we stayed in was very very large and had a good view of the... More
