You can't beat the location, right opposite the Chateau at Chambord. The room was very tired and really needed new carpet which was quite dirty. The paint work and wallpaper needed to be replaced. Even though the room appeared clean enough the carpet really detracted from the appeal. Not being in a town made the night really quiet and we... More

We chose this hotel because it was right next to the castle and it sounded quirky and interesting. We had read a lot of average reviews so our expectations weren't high, but it really was awful! Downstairs is deceptively ok - the bar & terrace area is nice (although service pretty slow), and the welcome from reception wasn't too bad.... More

We arrived at this spectacular location full of expectation. The rooms are very tired but nice and clean. The chef was good but prices extortionate . The steak tartare was fantastic. Bit the crab was unbelievable the size did not reflect the price! The Chambord cocktail was a rip off and this hotel clearly profits from a captive audience. I... More

My family and I have decided to go here to visit the near castle, at the reception an indian speaks very bad english and he gave us the room number 40, it was orrible with very bad smell. The restaurant was expensive and poor. Bad service. The only good thing is that it is the nearest hotel to the castle... More

No arguing that this hotel has the most spectacular setting right next to the Chateaux , service was helpful and friendly and sitting on the terrace with an aperitif was lovely. We asked to change the first room we were shown as it was small, dark and rather depressing the second was better although it was all rather tired and... More

I stayed one night (two days) in Chambord and found the hotel very comfortable. It was expensive for the quality of the lodgings (but the restaurant was top notch and the staff treated me very well. I had a chateau view room but was a bit disappointed to see scaffolding from my window (ahh historical landmarks). The chateau was beautiful... More

We really enjoyed our overnight stay, the location is stunning, the restaurant is very good but do expect the rooms to be in need of renovation. If you go prepared for this then the price is not too bad. If the hotel was fully renovated then you can double the price !

Our family of four (including two teenagers) stayed here for one night in early July 2014. The location was very special, as it provided views of and access to the grounds of the Chateau in the evening and early morning. This allowed for a lovely bike ride in the evening. We had two rooms in order to accommodate the four... More

The magnificent position, yards from Chateau Chambord, makes the Grand St Michel an ideal base to explore the chateau and its extensive grounds. You need some time as the Chateau is immense - 440 rooms. . Getting to the hotel is a little tricky - you have to turn into the second car park, go to the end and on... More

This is a charming hotel that is located directly across from Chateau Chambord. It is walking distance to Chambord, which is a beautiful chateau and worth at least 1/2 to tour. The hotel has convenient (and free) parking. There is nothing better than sitting at their restaurant (which was quite good and affordable). I sat outside, had a wonderful dinner,... More
