We stayed at this hotel at the end of a walking tour and were dismayed to find it located on the outskirts of town (adding extra kms to an already long walking day) and up a big hill. Also, being modern, it didn't have the immediate charm of the older buildings in the Loire area. However, the hotel's interior was... More

We stayed here on route to Charante Maritime. Many years ago we stayed in the small town of Azay le Rideau itself but were disappointed with that hotel at the time so decided to stay at Hotel des Chateaux this time after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! The hotel , which has its own large carpark,is... More

Our visit was booked through Brittany ferries as part of a touring holiday around Northern France. This Hotel is perfectly placed just outside the lively village, and easy to find on arrival. It is situated on high ground so it enjoys good views of the surrounding areas, but the walk to the village is not difficult, despite the cyclists complaints. The... More

We stayed here for a second time because the hotel has everything we needed, simple but adequate. The food in the restaurant is very good and there are some good local wines on the wine list. The owners and staff are very friendly, we will certainly stay here again when in the area.

This hotel was booked through Brittany Ferries as part of a car tour. For motorists, it was convenient, being on the edge of town with a large car park. The staff were helpful with good English and the rooms were of a good size. We ate in the restaurant one night and were very pleased. Breakfast was also good and... More

This is on the par with a Travelodge, dated in style but adequate for an overnight stay. It is set at least 1/2 a mile up a steep hill from the town centre which does not make it the most convenient of locations. They have a basement garage for bikes with a 'bike slope' to get the bikes up and... More

Like a previous reviewer, we arrived after a long hot day of cycling and the hellish ascent before reaching Hotel des Chateaux was soul destroying. After exploring the chateau, we couldn't face a third ascent of the hill in a day so stayed at the hotel for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent food. The breakfast was... More

This was an attractive building just outside the town. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, which had a good shower but no shower curtain, meaning the bathroom floor can be quite wet, there was however “real” soap not the slippery liquid soap containers. The air-conditioning vent looked in need of a good clean, but the air in the room... More

Arriving after a long day cycling, we were so disappointed with the location of this hotel. First, if you are cycling, you must go thru the inviting town of Azay-Le-Rideau, go up an extremely steep hill that seems to last forever, then tackle a very busy round-about. There's your hotel. Right next to the round-about, facing heavy traffic and a... More

This small and cosy hotel, quietly located at walking distance from the famous castle of Azay-Le-Rideau, was our base for three days of exploring the middle part of the Loire valley. More great places like Villandry, Ussé and Chinon (just to name a couple) are only a short drive away. Our room was big and on the ground floor. Two... More
