I spent four nights here cycling (despite rainy weather). Hotel is about 600-700m from the centre of Azay-le-Rideau, 1km from the Azay-le-Rideau Chateau. Location is handy for people with cars (no problems with parking, easy access to main road) and cyclists (easy to get out to country roads). Hotel is located on a relatively big landplot and rooms are bigger... More

The hotel is near a roundabout on the edge of the old town with a short 10 minute walk downhill to the chateau (and for us hardy cyclists, a relatively easy walk back up). The hotel recommended restaurants for our group of 15 and booked one for us. There is a large breakfast room, with a adequate to good selection... More

This hotel seems to have been newly refurbished with rooms looking smart although the whole effect is a bit bland. Still, everything clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's about a 10 minute walk into the town centre which didn't bother us. Breakfast a little expensive for what it was but perfectly OK.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of a walking tour and were dismayed to find it located on the outskirts of town (adding extra kms to an already long walking day) and up a big hill. Also, being modern, it didn't have the immediate charm of the older buildings in the Loire area. However, the hotel's interior was... More

We stayed here on route to Charante Maritime. Many years ago we stayed in the small town of Azay le Rideau itself but were disappointed with that hotel at the time so decided to stay at Hotel des Chateaux this time after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! The hotel , which has its own large carpark,is... More

Our visit was booked through Brittany ferries as part of a touring holiday around Northern France. This Hotel is perfectly placed just outside the lively village, and easy to find on arrival. It is situated on high ground so it enjoys good views of the surrounding areas, but the walk to the village is not difficult, despite the cyclists complaints. The... More

We stayed here for a second time because the hotel has everything we needed, simple but adequate. The food in the restaurant is very good and there are some good local wines on the wine list. The owners and staff are very friendly, we will certainly stay here again when in the area.

This hotel was booked through Brittany Ferries as part of a car tour. For motorists, it was convenient, being on the edge of town with a large car park. The staff were helpful with good English and the rooms were of a good size. We ate in the restaurant one night and were very pleased. Breakfast was also good and... More

This is on the par with a Travelodge, dated in style but adequate for an overnight stay. It is set at least 1/2 a mile up a steep hill from the town centre which does not make it the most convenient of locations. They have a basement garage for bikes with a 'bike slope' to get the bikes up and... More

Like a previous reviewer, we arrived after a long hot day of cycling and the hellish ascent before reaching Hotel des Chateaux was soul destroying. After exploring the chateau, we couldn't face a third ascent of the hill in a day so stayed at the hotel for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent food. The breakfast was...
