This hotel is a little bit hard to find but worth looking for. Very warm and friendly greeting from the owner/operator. Our room was spacious and very clean, full of character pieces and in a lovely country setting. The bathroom was enormous and very modern, done in local stone with a lovely balcony set off both rooms. Eco friendly hotel... More

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. Everything was aesthetically pleasing, functional (love the shower) and the views were outstanding. The host showed us where to take a beautiful bike ride to castles along the Loire river and I have to say the breakfasts here were outstanding. I'm addicted to their homemade yogurt. Definitely would stay here... More

This is a place/ business you simply want to thrive. The owner is excellent - very helpful and has developed the hotel since 1992. He does lots of the work, his wife designs the quirky interiors of the hotel cave rooms and his mother tends the beautiful garden spaces overlooking a stunning valley setting. Great team and great place. The... More

We are in love with this place! My boyfriend and I like to stay in unique lodging and this certainly fit the bill! We arrived with a warm reception and the host was patient as we decided between two rooms - we really liked the idea of staying in the cave room, but it was very warm, so decided for... More

The hotel is in an incredible location with beautiful views, our room was clean and spacious. Our host Alain was incredibly welcoming, offering advice on local restaurants, walks, and suggesting a lovely drive to our next destination in the Loire that beat the GPS hands down. It's a short - ten minute - walk to Azay le Rideau, plus of... More

We booked Troglododo as part of our week long holiday in the Loire, looking for a different experience. It certainly lived up to its expectations. It's ideally situated on the outskirts of Azay-le-Rideau, perfect for the town, the chateau etc. Only a ten minute walk into town means that you can enjoy a meal out and leave the car. On... More

We stayed in le petit troglo for one night. Azay is a favourite location for us and noticed this as something different to try. We had a long and very hot journey, so our first reactions were slightly tarnished. First, the good points: It is charmingly different - have never stayed in a cave before". The "room" is comfortable with... More

We stayed in the Grand Troglo in April of 2015. It was SO BEAUTIFUL! Owner, Alain, and his wife were so kind and accommodating. Alain recommended an excellent restaurant, a shortcut to Azay-le-Rideau on foot, and his phone number in case we had any problems! We enjoyed a bottle of sparkling wine (Alain had some for purchase!) on the gorgeous... More

Located slightly outside of the city, the hotel is placed up on top of a cliff that overlooks the valley below, and is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. If you're wanting to get away and have some peace and quiet with that special person, this is a great spot! The owners are onsite and are very attentive... More

Very friendly staff. A 300 year old cave. The rooms have been carefully made up - we stayed in the Grand and our kids the Petit. The rooms are a bit damp and the layout not totally ideal - the loo is just by the head of the bed). The GPS took us to a field 30 mins away (perhaps... More
