We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting area Chateaus. Loved the location. Room and bath were very clean and comfortable. Our window opened to a view of the river. One night we returned from dinner and opened the window - a hot air balloon was over the river near our room What a beautiful sight. Staff was so helpful... More

We stayed one night on route down to the Dordogne region. Pleasant staff showed us to room 7 a superior room with terrace 115 euros a night with breakfast 24 euros for 2 people. The room was clean and fairly we'll equipped. We had an enjoyable evening exploring Amboise and eating out. There was no mention of the Lounge bar... More

We stayed here for one night travelling up the Loire valley - chateaux and gardens - in June. I generally don't like the anonymous chain hotels on the peripheriques of French towns, and will look out for the independent or family run hotels - and this was just that - just under the walls of the chateau, on the road... This hotel was really well located and reasonably priced. No, it didn't have air conditioning, but even in August we didn't need it and were happy to leave the window open. Very close to the Chateaux, restaurants and Leonardo de Vinci's house. Parking can be a challenge, but the same could be said for most towns in France. Staff were... More

Stayed at the hotel on a Rick Steve's recommendation. The rooms are small compared to American standards and without air conditioning but they are very charming with beamed ceilings and casement windows that open up to direct views of the castle almost close enough to touch. That is something you cannot replicate and is the true European experience. European travel... More

We stayed here two nights as part of a Rick Steves tour. Location is good for the market, restaurants and Leonardo deVinci house. We were unhappy with the room assigned to us because it was on the third floor and only had an openable skylite (no AC) with no other egress other than the door. If a person is 6... More

My wife and I stayed here as part of a tour group. Nice hotel, but not stellar. Clean room, reasonable mattress, but the building had a faint musty smell. Nothing terrible, but annoying. They did have a great breakfast and the breakfast area served as a bar in the evening. Probably one of the best in the area.

The position of the Bellevue, across from the Loire, under the Chateau, and next to the town centre cannot be beaten. The appearance of the hotel on entering the reception/lobby was of a high standard and the reception staff are also very pleasant. The room that we were given was very small even by French standards, which may reflect its... More

We stayed here recently and had the standard room which was very small, but comfortable. Hotel bar is great. Had some wine and sampled some of the local cheese, so that was the major treat. Location is as good as it gets, although we didn't have the view of the chateau. Very charming.

The room was large by European hotel standards, but small by American hotel standards. I found the room to be very nice, and I appreciated the large bathroom. It was a little difficult to step up into the bathtub as the sides were so high. Caution - it may take some time for the hallway lights to activate, and there... More
