Hotel Crispol is definitely not one of the cheapest that I have stayed in, but it was worth the price (85 € for a double room), because the view is just amazing. You can see Vézelay in all its beauty. We slept with the curtains open so that we could enjoy it first thing in the morning, too. The rooms... More

This hotel is beautifully situated with a view across to the abbey of Vezelay. The hotel rooms are large and pleasant and one can set outside and enjoy the view. The restaurant is good with a view from the dinning room. the service is friendly and helpful.

The rooms at this hotel and the bathrooms are large. Most rooms have a wonderful view of the valley looking at Vezelay. There is a nice dinning room. No English is spoken but the people are friendly. It is located at a turn in the major highway that approaches St Pere and Vezelay

The tone was set when we arrived. No sign to indicate the location of reception. The guy who took us to our room set off at a pace and didn't check we were behind him - my wife walks only slowly. When we caught up and reached the room he opened the door, gestured its entrance and left quickly and... More

We only had the one night at Crispol and were mostly impressed. We found the rooms to be lavishly decorated - perhaps a little over the top but better than being drab. The shiny black ceiling alone was remarkable but the various statues in the room added to the atmosphere. The facilities were excellent, views lovely and bath impressive -... More

I was just revisiting many of the hotels and trips we have taken over the past 25 years and returned to this Trip Advisor' page on the Crispol where we stayed in 2004 - and I feel I must place a review and comment here. We arrived and were given an average but adequate room with a very nice distant... More

The hotel is a 5 minute drive from Vézelay and has distant views over the Basilique. The room was comfortable enough and of very good size. Not everyone will like the interior design though, we thought the (numerous) golden statues to be of dubious, "bling" taste. The owners are unfortunately not the warmest persons we have met, and were quite... More

Stayed one night here while passing through Burgundy, and were delighted to find such a comfortable friendly hotel with stunning views of the hill and basilica from the rear windows, both in the bedroom and the very pleasant dining room. The bedroom had lively and interesting modern artwork and ultra trendy fittings, the bathroom being particularly unusual and well designed.... More

... a wonderful hotel across the valley from the nearby hilltop town of Vezelay. The views of Vezelay are spectacular, especially in the early morning where the fog fills the valley below, and at sunset, where the sun sets behind the Basilique Sainte Madeleine. Have stayed here every year at least once a year since 1999. Cannot recommend either the... More

We booked this hotel thru France Balloons. The location was lovely but not close enough to the very beautiful town of Vezelay. The staff was friendly but didn't speak any English. The restaurant was very good with a nice view but the rooms seriously needed updating. The area is great for local touring but I would recommend staying in Vezelay.
