Although the rooms are old and tiny (this is after all a very old mill), this place is loaded with charm. We stayed in late October, but I can imagine how beautiful & pleasant it would be in the summer. Breakfast was served in the rustic & charming old millhouse by the fireplace. The Cousin River and millpond are right... more

This was an amazing place to stay. The hosts were extremely welcoming, the rooms, although small were quaint, clean and fit the atmosphere of the converted mill. Sipping Chablis by the river, what was even more brilliant was the food. The husband owner/chef cooked up miracle after miracle for our 4 nights stay (entree, main, dessert and a fabulous wine... more

My husband and I have stayed at this small country hotel several times since 1985. The location on the charming Cousin "river" is verdant and peaceful. The buildings are of historic significance and while the rooms are very small by current standards they are charming and clean and to change them would change the ambiance. The current owners offer dinner... more

very quiet and simple rooms in great location by the cousin river. limited dinner possibilities but nice breakfast. Very clean and neat and pleasant owners. Easy to go to Avallon for dinner if you want more choices than the offered table d'hote. more

First of all, this part of Burgundy is simply gorgeous, filled with rolling countryside, picture perfect villages, castles, churches, rivers, and forests. There's enough to keep lovers of rural France happy for days. It's just minutes from the large, historic town of Avallon, but you might as well be in the middle of nowhere. The hotel is in a shady... more

We stayed at the Moulin on Sunday May 20, and found the situation just as charming as everyone else, but the rooms are extremely basic, a little pokey and quite dark. We found the staff lovely and the valley of the Cousin like a series of Corot paintings - exquisitely green. But we left after one night, finding the room... more

Our first stop in France after a long drive from Germany was a little hard to find the hotel with only the internet directions as a guide. Driving from Avallon it is about a 10min drive down a dark lane beside the river. Arriving after 10pm our plans for a walk to a local cafe for a late night meal... more

Had a short stay here in April. The owners were charming and helpful way beyond the call of duty. Monsieur even offered to warm my muddy walking boots in the hearth. The rooms are basic but the food is delicious, in its hearty way, and the setting next to the rushing Cousin river, shaded by overhanging trees, is paradisaical. Highly... more

We were glad to find this place. An old mill with a garden next to the fast running Cousin river. The owners were very friendly and M'sieur cooked an excellent meal on our second night. On the first they were fully booked but directed us to another hotel in the short-stroll-away village which was fab. This is just the thing... more

This is a very nice country inn - with a friendly welcome and a nice breakfast. My wife and myself and a traveling companion were traveling to Paris after a week in Taize in early May 2002 and this weas a perfect stop over. Rooms were comfortable, very restful with only the sound of the river to relax us after... more
