Le Pontot is a truly magical B&B. It combines a wonderful location near the cathedral, an amazing collection of antiques together with all the modern amenities we needed. Our suite was very spacious and incredibly clean, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Our only regret was that we could stay for only one day!

Vézelay is a magical place. Set in Burgundy, just 2 1/2 hours from Paris, it is set on top of a hill, with just a single road that takes you up to the top and back down again. At the top is an 11th century Basilica, its spartan interior filled with the charged silence of 900 years of history. On... More

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Le Pontot but a couple of pluses and minuses stand out. On the plus side: incredible location near the top of the hill and close to the Basillica; very accommodating host; beautiful bed linens and a generous and well appointed bath; great views from the room. On the minus side: very hard to find... More

A great combination of quirky decor and beautifully appointed guest rooms with all conveniences. The staircase is a stone spiral worthy of a feudal castle and the house itself has a commanding position of Vézelay, close to the top of the town and the basilica. There's a public parking courtyard in front of the house, which is a nice convenience... More

The hotel looks great - really good interiors. All was going well until the very last minute when our credit cards were "refused" at the desk. Now these were 2 completely different accounts so when the personal one didn't work we tried the business one. No good. Both cards worked 20 mins later in a motorway service area when we... More

My wife and I last stayed at Le Pontot 20 years ago and delightful though that stay was, under its current owners Le Pontot is now just marvellous. From the moment of one's warm welcome to departure, Gerard and Jesus are the perfect hosts. We (me, wife, 2 teenagers) had Suites 1 and 2 for 3 nights and they have... More

We highly recommend staying at Le Pontot. This is a small luxury hotel, dating back to the 17th century, which has been refurbished (in 2008) to the highest standard by its new owners, Jesus and Gerard. We could not have been made more welcome when we stayed there for the first time at the end of September 2009. The 5... More

What a surprise, the decoration, the hospitality, the atmosphere, what else could we ask for, we wanted to rest and relax and found the right place. We'll come back.

This is a mayor tourist trap, not worth the 160 Euros. There has been no investment since the 15th century. The owner is super friendly and nice but you should look somewhere else. The room was very spacious but everything including the matress was old and somewhat dirty. The carpet was extremely filthy and the toilet was not very clean.... More

Felt like I had gone back in time in this beautiful little town. The walled garden, the view of the church from our room, the valley below in mist. A very special place. The rooms are not elegant but certainly adequate for the price. Breakfast is more fun in one of the little sweet shops. The village is full of... More
