I had my wedding at the abbaye at the end of May and I just cannot express how magical it was. I wanted a small destination wedding. When our guests checked this place out online they all wanted to come so we had 60 people there (all the way from California). It is difficult to put into words how magical... more

The abbaye de la Bussiere is simply extraordinary!...The medieval abbey has been beautifully restored and we loved the extensive gardens with century-old trees, river, lake, and fountains everywhere. The staff could not have been more welcoming. It is worth dining at the abbey, either in the restaurant or the more affordable bistrot. The food is first-rate, and the service perfect.... more

We stayed at the Abbye earlier this month for 2 days and nights. The setting is beautiful, peaceful and perfect for relaxation. A few minor things keep this from being a strong 5. When we arrived (which was granted a bit late) we were met by the receptionist who gave us a very quick 5 minute tour, took us up... more

Last year, in May, en route to the South of France, we stayed at the Abbaye for one night for the first time. We liked that so much, that we decided to have a two night's stay this year, again on our way to the Provence and the Cote d'Azur. And again: We were not disappointed. The details of the... more

This hotel does indeed look beautiful and is no doubt a great place to stay and eat. However, our experience in dealing with the owner (Nancy) was quite shocking. We were driving to London from Italy 3 weeks ago when about 36 hours before we were due to arrive for an overnight stay at LaBussiere we had a horrendous car... more

We are very picky because we have stayed at many wonderful places in Burgundy. This is an incredible place. We were there to totally relax, have great wine, food and fromage and to take beautiful long walks. All of these requirements were met and then some. Clive is amazing and lives the life we could only all hope to lead!... more

We stayed here for 3 days and had a lovely experience. The property is gourgeous and I loved the ponies and dogs. Clive is a great host and the food was wonderful. Our sommelier introduced us to some delicious wines. Julie Steele was fantastic, taking us on our winery tour. Very knowledgable and fun! Love the beautiful countryside and hope... more

This is an unusual hotel. For a number of reasons : 1. The setting - quite simply its beautiful - the old abbey which is the setting for the hotel is just stunning, set in beautiful grounds and sympathetically converted to a 16 room hotel without losing any of its charm or history. The village and the rolling hills of... more

This hotel is so very nearly perfect that the few niggles have to be seen in the context of a highly enjoyable stay. The building and grounds are stunning and beautifully kept, the designer decor superb with the odd touch of whimsey in the decor of the rooms which could probably have been left out. It was good to encounter... more

My wife Erika and I chose L'Abbaye after reading the glowing reviews on TA. We were not disappointed. The place is immaculate and the service personal, even intimate. It's been several weeks since we left and we still remember the names of most of the staff. Freddie, the amazing sommelier, was always helpful and galant. CLive, the amazingly devoted owner,... more
