On route back from the South of France we stopped for one night and were totally overwhelmed by the whole experience of this superb Abbey and its grounds. As we pulled up weary from many miles travel, we were warmly greeted and our luggage taken from us, guided to reception where upon our breath was taken away, as you will... More

We stayed at the abbaye for an overnight stop on the way home from the south of France and were bowled over by the setting, the architecture, the room and the staff. If you appreciate ancient buildings then you're in for a treat. There aren't many hotels with their own park and lake so these make it even more special.

This is a very special place - a beautiful old Abbey in one of the most beautiful parts of Burgundy which has been cleverly and tastefully restored. The result is an extremely comfortable and appealing hotel, with lovely grounds and lots of stylish twists to the decor. We stayed for three nights and each evening set off on the hotel's... More

My husband and I stayed at the Abbaye for 4 nights in August 2014. The hotel is spectacularly beautiful. The architecture is a marvel and the grounds are beautiful. I never tired of wandering through the common areas of the hotel (of which there are many). We loved our room and I would highly recommend it -- Fontenay. It had... More

Dear Mrs. Proseccolover, Thank you for your review. It is wonderful to read that you enjoyed the ambience that we try so hard to conserve and the space and freedom to explore the buildings and grounds. We do try very hard to tick all the boxes including the restaurant. My Chef de Cuisine, Emmanuel, has worked at the Abbaye for... More

We stayed here for 1 night with our children aged 13 and 11 on our way to the alps for our summer holiday. We wished we could have stayed longer and hopefully we will get the opportunity again. The place is simply beautiful and credit goes to the owners who have obviously put a lot of time and effort in... More

As everyone has already noted, this is undeniably a stunning location. Friendly welcome upon arrival, nice gesture of bringing home-made, refreshing lavendar flavoured drinks to the room with pain d'epices .... We also enjoyed the lovely setting of Le Bistrot's terrace for a three course lunch. I thought the food was very good and the prices very reasonable. Therefore all... More

Dear JoJo, Thank you for your review and nice comments regarding the welcome, buildings and gardens. With your other comments. Your husband said best meal ever and you not so. Not everyone has the same taste. The portable Air conditioner's. They are there because of demand. Not ideal and only temporary until I am able to install permanent ones which... More

Amazing grand old building with great service and fantastic large rooms with luxurious amenities provided. Great spot to base oneself for touring around the Burgundy region, our only regret was that it is probably nicer in spring/summer rather than winter when we stayed there, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.

We are extremely used to Relais Chateaux and have been to more than 30 of them in France and are travelling all over the world in the best trendy luxurious places... The place is outstanding and was very beautifully refurbished, the room are also nice. Careful the main restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays even is peak season!! Instead... More

Dear Julien S, Your letter of confirmation did explain that the Gourmet restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesday’s and that dinner on those 2 evenings is served in the “Bistro des Moines” I am aware that you wanted to dine in our Gourmet restaurant and that this is why you checked out a day early and that under my... Had a lovely two night stay here with our daughter, we took bikes out and toured the region including beautiful Beaune, The Abbaye was fantastic and so lovingly restored. We preferred the more casual restaurant but in essence cannot fault the place and would highly recommend.

Great overall impression of the craftfully restored building and beautiful gardens. The building has quite a few steep stairs,no elevator, so climb to your room .The "nice" room we reserved turned out to be a very tiny room ( chambre de bonne) with so many beams, one could not move around without bumping into a beam.Tiniest of bathrooms. Add a stand alone,noisy,airco... More

Dear RemcoD, Thank you for your review. We opened the Abbaye in 2006 with only 9 rooms, and now we have 18. The first rooms had to forgo built in Air Con, hence the portable units installed after. The latest renovated rooms have built in Air Con. If finance allows then next years project is to install built in Air... More
