Wow, is all that I can stay about this place and staff. A little eccentric for sure and I can just imagine all of the "oh s*#t" moments that has happened on that stair case dating back to the 11 century, but this Abbaye is a must stay. Even the owner got up early on his day off and took... More

Medieval exteriors often reveal wonderfully modernised interiors. Not here; what you see is what you get. Eccentric would be a charitable estimate. We were only here for one night and our room was terrible...an odd mezzanine arrangements with very steep and rickety stairs from sleeping area to wc...perilous after dark. The breakfast service was glacially slow and inattentive. As you... More

An extraordinary place! Really unusual. I liked it a lot, but.... Not the easiest place to find - I actually walked past the entrance twice, mistaking it for a basement window. It's not an easy door to get through - even relatively short people have to stoop. Once through, there are several steep steps down to the main reception (and... More

Staying in a 12th Century Abbey was in and of itself a wonderful experience. Just being in the building carried the experience of centuries of history. The photos on the various travel websites convey the experience far better than my words can. What I can say is that the building has been beautifully and lovingly maintained and cared for. Our... Incredible place: the reception and the restaurant date back to the 12th century. The comfort is 21st century. Super complete and top quality breakfast; try the scrambled eggs by the owners: he does them the traditional way, she adds a few drops of excellent olive oil: divine. I will definitely be back at Abbaye de Maizières

Don't be put off by the tiny entrance to Abbaye de Maizeres it's all part of the charm and experience. We stopped off here for a night en route to Italy and wish we could have stayed longer. It's fantastic - the charm, the atmosphere, the wonderful friendly reception. Unfortunately we were too late for dinner but the vaulted restaurant... More

I'll start with the worst part, the winding staircase but it's not even that bad just an inconvenience because there is no elevator. Other than that it has an outstanding staff, very cute old Abbey that was converted to a hotel. The room, while small, was very usable for two people and our one suitcase (day trip from Paris). The... More

The host and hostess, forget his name, Bruno and Emmanuelle were fantastic and helpful. The charm, history, interiors, great restaurant , hospitalityand fantastic location could not have been better. This is a very nice little hotel, perfectly located on a narrow street just off the main pedestrian centre, with friendly and helpful staff. Now that we know where to park (just around the corner) and how to navigate the surprisingly low entrance and steep steps just inside, we look forward to coming back and eating there again (see separate... We booked a one night stay en-route to Nice for Christmas. Unfortunately our car had a minor sense of humour loss just on arrival in Beaune. Betty and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful, absolutely delightful.. This is a wonderful small hotel, full of character and charm, right in the centre of Beaune. Highly recommended, we will... More
