Stunning building (12th century), carefully renovated, incredible ambiente, cute and tastefully furnished rooms. The staff is extremly friendly and helpful. Don't miss the fine dining in the fantastic cellar restaurant! The food is outstanding, the portions rather small. Thankfully they didn't mess up the historic building with a lift. The steps up to your room will do you good after... More

This hotel certainly lived up to its pictures and reputation! We stayed here for one night on our Honeymoon as we were passing through Burgundy. The atmosphere here is like nothing we've experienced and I'm not sure it's replicated in many other places. How could you not love staying in a 12th century Abbaye? Bruno was kind and helpful. The... More

Noting some of the reviews, we decided to try the Abbaye instead of a more "conventional" hotel, and were really glad we did! Location is excellent, right around the corner from the Hospice and all major attractions. Bruno and his team were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and our room on the 2nd floor was spacious and extremely comfortable. We only... More

We were travelling via Beaune to stay one night en route to Meribel for a skiing holiday. We chose this hotel for it's beauty - just looked amazing on the website with its lovely vaulted dining room and it also provided spacious rooms to accommodate ourselves and our young daughter. Our journey to France suffered serious delays at the Euro... More

I originally booked this hotel because it sounded romantic and different. How often do you get to stay in a cave/old wine cellar? When we checked in we were shown our room and the stairs and layout was just too tight and too narrow- the stairs in some of the rooms are a little too scary for me. Fortunately, they... More

Wow, is all that I can stay about this place and staff. A little eccentric for sure and I can just imagine all of the "oh s*#t" moments that has happened on that stair case dating back to the 11 century, but this Abbaye is a must stay. Even the owner got up early on his day off and took... More

We stayed here recently on a trip to Beaune. The staff is so kind and accommodating! Upon arrival we had quite a bit of heavy luggage so they moved us to a more accessible room (without us asking). The first floor looks like you are standing in an ancient dungeon! It was built in the 1200s and has incredible detail!... More

Medieval exteriors often reveal wonderfully modernised interiors. Not here; what you see is what you get. Eccentric would be a charitable estimate. We were only here for one night and our room was terrible...an odd mezzanine arrangements with very steep and rickety stairs from sleeping area to wc...perilous after dark. The breakfast service was glacially slow and inattentive. As you... More

An extraordinary place! Really unusual. I liked it a lot, but.... Not the easiest place to find - I actually walked past the entrance twice, mistaking it for a basement window. It's not an easy door to get through - even relatively short people have to stoop. Once through, there are several steep steps down to the main reception (and... More
