Well worth the winding drive to get to the hotel and restaurant complex. Moulin des Ruats is just outside a tiny village and situated on the banks of a very quaint river. Good quiet service, great wine, fantastic food. Took our 2 sons along, ages 10 and 11. They enjoyed, but the food is probably better suited to older foodies

Staying at this beautiful inn was one of the highlights of our trip to France in July of 2013. Originally a mill, the Moulin des Ruats is tucked away in a peaceful, woodsy area along a stream, its waterwheel still turning. The room we had was charming and large with a living area to which our breakfast was brought, a... More

This is the third year that we have stopped here en route to Paris from Provence. After a day on the autoroute, it offers a serene pause before entering the bustle of Paris. This quaint older hotel 's surroundings are a sensory delight: lush green everywhere, sounds of birdsong and stream. The senses are further heightened at dinner. The dining... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while in Burgundy. We were fortunate enough to have been able to stay in room 12, with the Cousin River and water wheel (moulin) right beside us. We found our room quite spacious, with an elegant old world charm. The furnishing fit the building...you shouldn't expect contemporary furnishing is such a... More

The kind of hotel you wanna find when cruising France: old charm with a very french flavor, located along a small country road and next to a nice little river. We booked a spacious superior room with terrace, the toilet is separate from the bathroom which is a good point, room also had a small hall with wardrobe, only remark:... More

The surrounding of this hotel is exquisite : ideal setting in a quiet place among flowers beside the river. BUT the hotel bed room was totally obsolete : small queen side bed with a sheet and an old blanket , very basic ,no nice decoration. We could ear the people next door snoring and sneezing. Above all no internet and... More

This long established hotel is located in the idyllic valley of the Cousin river, just outside of the town of Avallon, Burgundy, France. We stayed here once in the 70 ties (!) and not much has changed since. The rooms are fine but a bit ageing, however the bathrooms have been redone. The river flows under the restaurant. Reception is... More

This hotel is a small hotel with a good restaurant and breakfast was good but it was all pricey. Our room which was sold as a superior was dark small and had a large beam running diagonally through the room, which meant that you had to remember to duck when walking around the room. Even worse in the middle of... More

This hotel is located a little outside Avallon and can be tricky to find without a good SatNav GPS. It's in a deep narrow gorge by a river and the location is very secluded and quiet, with extensive gardens and private gated parking for your car and valuables. It also closes very early in the evening, so phone ahead if... More

Set in a forest by sparkling rapids this is a spotless and enchanted litle boutique hotel. The cuisine is pricey and worth every cent. The chef and co-owner is rightfully proud of his outstanding local reputation. The rooms are B and B smallish but clean and comfortable . Decor and ecclectic mx of antiques from various eras. Staff very friendly.
