... stay at Le Parc des Marechaux hotel just off central Auxerre because the rooms are luxuriously decorated and comfortable, the lounge bar clubbie, the garden terrace excellent for a pre-dinner drink, and breakfast buffet very generous. Caroline and I walked into town down to the river and dined in a waterfront restaurant with an accomplished small group playing good... More

Spacious room, very good bed, beautiful house more than a hotel so to speak. Bit of noise from the road outside in the morning, but easily forgotten with such surroundings and friendly staff. Very good breakfast and a lovely stay. Hope to be back with a less tight schedule.

The hotel is located in a green residential area, at walking distance from the old town. It is set in a private mansion built in the second half of the 19th century, in the style of Napoleon III. Consistent with the character of the house, the rooms are furnished and decorated in empire style. The charming house is completed by... More

We stopped over at this hotel for one night only on a travel around France. Charming oldie worldie feel to it on the outside and in. The Manager was most helpful in recommending places to see and where to eat in Auxerre. After spending the day sight seeing we returned quite early to the Hotel and ordered a nice chilled... More

We have stayed in this hotel 4 times now and have found it a convenient and very pleasant stop-over when travelling across France. The building and wooded grounds are lovely (the air of slightly faded elegance adds to the charm) and the swimming pool is very welcome when arriving after a hot journey. However Auxerre deserves more than just a... More

Very central and convenient. The room although small was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and the staff were fluent in English and very helpful. I have stayed at this hotel before and would not hesitate to return. Lunch in the well maintained gardens is a bonus as is room service at no extra cost. The breakfast... More

I arrived with my son late in the afternoon. The reception was quite friendly but the room was little and lacking of light. The garden is beautiful and well-keeped: we had there a very pleasant breakfast. Probably in winter the hotel grounds are less attractive.

To be sure, given the limited choice of hotels in Auxerre, this is still the best hotel in town. However, do not expect the luxury which is usually connected with 4 stars - 3 stars would be more appropriate to this hotel. You may call this hotel romantic - it is a historic mansion with the look and feel of... More

The park is actually a very large wooded garden at the rear of this pleasant hotel, which also has a covered swimming pool. Smallish rooms, reasonable breakfast, bar and helpful ' owner' who can advise on the limited choice of restaurants available in town. Five minutes walk from centre, good soundproofing of rooms overlooking road, slightly more expensive for garden... More

Pleasant hotel with lovely grounds within easy walk to center of Auxerre. Room was small but elegant. Comfortable lounge. Staff speaks excellent English. No children staying here during our 3 night stay, but comments in the guest book suggest they love the swimming pool.
