While an ordinary motel-like room, the excellent restaurant and convenient location just up the street from the historical Autun center make this hotel very pleasant and an enjoyable stop for any traveller driving sound Burgundy. The garage below was an added plus. On the expensive side given the bland rooms but the dining was surprisingly outstanding.

The exterior of the hotel fools you into thinking that it will be more luxurious inside than it actually is. There is no doubt that the exterior is beautiful, and the cloister (where you can sit and watch the sun go down) has stunning views. Desk clerk is a control freak who runs around questioning what you are doing. Check-in was painful as we waited awkwardly while desk clerk demanded payment from someone on the telephone. Room resembled a third-rate throwback to 1970's. Breakfast room could just as well be in a school dorm in South Dakota - no view of the mountain forest scenery!... More

One has to wonder about a hotel where only luke warm water came out of the basin's mixer tap whichever way you turned it. The wi-fi internet didn't work and the window was tiny compared with the vastness of the room. Sleep was an airless affair on a hot night.
