On the les Ursulines own website it states it is a 3 star hotel, then again it is quoted as a 4 star at some websites, also on the entrance of les ursulines there is a 4 star marking. So I am not sure what it is. My room is very good size but the décor is basic and worn,... More

The airconditioned room with comfortable separate beds and view on the inner square was fine. However, WLAN speed in the room was very slow. Better in the lounge and the restaurant. Rather basic breakfast, but OK compared to French standards. The restaurant is rather pretentious. The wine selection is fine, but the beef was overcooked and the cheese platter came... More

The hotel rooms are absolute not worth the price asked. Location is great and the city of Autun is good to spend one day in it. Friendly staff.Restarant has perfect food, however the wine list is very expensive. Considering to go back we don't major reason for that are the old small rooms and the really to high price for... The location of the Ursulines is wonderful in the high town area of Autun near the cathedral. The view from the terrace is outstanding. It used to be a marvellous place to stop on the journey from England to the South of France but sadly no more. The whole place looks more and more tired. The parking is underground alongside... More

The hotel is situted nicely in the old town of Autun - near the cathedrale. The exterior and gardens is nicely appointed. On the contrary, our room was filthy, too small to deposit even a small suitcase and the bathroom has a large area of black mildew in it. It also lacks a shower curtain or glass door, so should... My wife and i stayed for two nights in Hotel Les Ursulines in Autun. Quietly situated in the old town part of Autun near the cathedral. Friendly and helpful reception. Our room of type "chambre luxe" was on the first floor, situated on the corner opposite to the reception, overlooking the inner garden : AC, television, seperate spacious bathroom, a... More

The hotel is lovely with great views and a super big garden. The breakfast was the best we had during our tour of Burgundy with a lovely lady serving. I really can't fault the public areas which were well above the standard of a 3* hotel. Food was compared to the Manoir aux Quat' Saisons - and quite rightly. Unfortunately,... More

We arrived here after a terrible experience in Lyon, so we were relieved to find such a pleasant place in a small village of the countryside, with beautifully ivy-covered walls, a nice restaurant and clean rooms. The restaurant in particular is very good, especially escargots, served into tiny pots instead of the usual shells.

The hotel looked good on the website so we thought it might be worth paying a bit extra for a town centre location. It is very central and it has some nice views. The hotel is being modernised and there is some evidence of work in progress. We couldn't work out if our room had been modernised in an old... More

Stayed for a wedding at Autun Cathedral - a short walk away. Had a junior suite room - somewhat cramped but nice and characterful. Staff overall positive and helpful. Nice grounds with good views. Hotel wedged into this Hilltop town. Underground parking. Not the Ritz but good for a village hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
24 miles west of Beaune, in the old city of Autun, this charming hotel is a former 17th century convent, built on top of Roman ramparts. Magical transition when entering: from City side - a narrow street of the old city behind St Lazare cathedral - to Country side - suddenly the large curved windows of the convent offer a panoramic view over the Morvan Mountains. ... more   less
