This was the most reasonably priced hotel I could find, and it was excellent. Room smallish, but comfortable bed and modern shower/toilet. All well maintained and clean, but not impersonal. Very close to la gare. Free wireless internet. more
We travel to Vichy twice a year for the violin auctions and always stay at Chambord. The family who owns the hotel and restaurant (three generations) are wonderful. No English but we always manage. The rooms are not fancy but very clean and with a huge bathroom and large bathtub. Chambord is a half a block from the train station.
