As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Hotel run by people rather than a chain, and charges low prices for budget rooms. The rooms themselves have all the basics (e.g. TV, shower, and a bit of space to put your stuff), but could do with a little refurbishment. The square outside the hotel is quiet so no... More

We stayed here when we watched the Clermont vs Quins Heineken rugby game. Our light room was on the top floor and the bed was very comfortable. The owner was kind enough to book us a restaurant and served us a simple breakfast in the adjoining cafe.

We stayed at the Hotel Saint-Joseph for one night on the way home after a walking trip in the Chaîne des Puys, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel has a lovely old-fashioned charm and the location couldn't be much better, in a quiet street near the centre of town. It was also very good value. The... More

This hotel has a 2 star rating, which by french standards puts it alongside a youth hostel. We had the 'Deluxe family room' accessed through a 'courtyard'. The courtyard is simply a roofspace with 360 degree 4 storey high walls and in the middle has a skylight to allow light into the downstairs private room. There is no reception as... More

With a fantastic, friendly and helpful host, we knew we were off to a good start. We didn't have long here, and to best take advantage, we had to venture out promptly to have a walk through the town. Our accommodation in room #5 was clean, spacious, homely and welcoming. We were lucky enough to be appointed a room with... More

A lot of pricier, pretentious UK hotels would benefit from taking a few leaves out of the book of these, small, family run town/city hotels in France. As a rule they are spotlessly clean, conveniently located with extremely pleasant and helpful staff - the St Joseph is no exception. Centrally located and full of character, this hotel is exceptional value... More

Two night stay: I received a very warm welcome from the owner, a major fan of the Clermont-Ferrand rugby team (which he told me several times had just won the French championship :) and a nice, light and airy room on the first floor at the front with a small functional shower room (walls VERY thin!). I slept OK and... More

The little hotel is convenient to the train station & a good walk from Place de Jaude. I stayed with my wife and 2 daughters in a suite for 4 with toilette in room. We loved the simple yet very clean rooms, the hospitality of owner is what makes this a special place. We don't speak much French so communication... More
