I have now stayed twice in this old, somewhat worn, but flavorful 2 star hotel. The rooms are a little rundown, but full of character, and some have very interesting, unusual layouts. I think room 18 has the large patio, and many of the rooms have a view of the church and castle. For 25-45 euros, and a comfortable room, good bath, and great location, it's a good deal.

The folks that run it are very friendly, fairly efficient (this is an old fashioned place), and helpful. The hotel has one of the smallest elevators I have ever seen. Two persons at most, and they should be intimately acquainted.

The hotel is located in the heart of the old city, about a 5 minute walk from the tourist office, and another 5 minutes to the castle. The new city is in the opposite direction, but still only a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Pau is very compact.
