We had a pleasant stay in this excellent hotel, which also provided secure bicycle storage. The room was clean and comfortable and the owners friendly and helpful. The highlight for us was the food. We opted for halfboard as this looked like good value, and certainly was. The evening meal was excellent - amazing food served in a lovely courtyard... More

My wife an I spent only one night in the hotel. It is convenient to the caves for which the area is known and which are worth a visit. It is also close to chateau and gardens which are OK but not out of the ordinary. The restaurant located with the hotel is excellent. It offers a limited menu (... More

This hotel, in the heart of the Vezere valley, snuggles up against a cliff in a region of pre-historic painted caves and rock-shelters. In fact, there are sections of the hotel that are carved into the rock. The hotel boasts an excellent restaurant. The public rooms are welcoming and the garden of the hotel is very pleasant. Although we were... More

I did not stay at this hotel but dined in the restaurant. The 'formule' dinner for 28 euros was very good value. My entree was Foie Gras de Canard; my main a Supreme de Volaille and my dessert a Tarte aux Pommes Caramelise. Whilst the food was traditional rather than innovative, each course was very well executed indeed. It was... More

We were a little worried, cruising down the main strip of Les Eyzies that our hotel might be located on that busy little thoroughfare. It was to our relief that the Cro-Magnon is just far enough down to be within walking distance of the restaurants and shops, but nicely tucked away, a little quieter and with free parking. The room... More

My family of three had a lovely four day stay in the Hotel Cro-Magnon the 3rd week of June 2014. We wanted a relaxing small hotel while we explored the Paleolithic Caves and other sites of the area. Our room, a triple on the second floor had a patio overlooking the pool area. The owner went out of our way... More

Close to railway station, very appealing looking hotel with historical significance to the area. Spacious room, olde worlde but well maintained. Efficient service, substantial breakfast. Great location for exploring area.

Like many of the other reviewers, we found our room to be just fine and the service and food to be truly excellent. Les Eyzies de Tayac is a lovely village and the Cro Magnon is a short walk to anywhere you might want to go. Parking is right across the street and more than ample. After a day of... More

The hotel is located in a small village that is a gem overlooking the Vezere river in the prehistoric/historic town of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac in the Perigord region of the Department of Dordogne. This quaint hotel (15 rooms) is operated by Valerie and Laurent Besse. Laurent creates delicious meals while Valerie greets guests and runs the hotel registry. Our hotel room... More

The room we were in was very big, and while the bathroom fittings were a bit tired and no tea or coffee making facilities available in the room, the hotel itself is worth a visit. The setting is fabulous. We ate both nights in the restaurant because it was so good - note, at this time of year not all... More
