This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, I've stayed at better 2 star. There are no facilities here, unless you can count the 5 Euro for 15 minutes on the Internet, the computer being in a cupboard. The breakfast buffet is disgusting AND was usually empty, so we had to wait at least 15 minutes for it to come... more

Although with no ocean view, the hotel is located just down the block from an amazing break – perfect if you want to go surfing in the morning; easy to walk from the hotel to the beach with a heavy board. Note that the nearest break is at Grand Plage, which can get somewhat gnarly at 5 ft. or above.... more

We are just back from our stay in the tonic hotel and we had a lovely stay. The rooms are quite small but tastefully decorated. Who needs a big room in Biarritz its such a beautiful city. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and pointed us in the right direction of restaurants etc. We will definitely reccommend this hotel... more

I stayed in Tonic Hotel for 3 nights during July 2008 and I have to say that 4 stars is too much for this hotel. I have stayed in 3-star hotels in France that would put Tonic to shame. Breakfast was good, rooms were a bit small on the second floor (where I was staying), and "lost items" unfortunately were... more

In any other place and according to general hotel standards the Tonic should not be valued higher than a 2-star. Although I had been booked by a high ranking French company - as their guest -I got a room that seemed not to have been renovated since the hotel was built. It was muggy, worn, lamps did not work, had... more

Just back from staying for a week in Tonic. It's just been fully refitted to a good standard. There was still some work going on last week and could be noisey in the morning, but I'd imagine the work should be completed very soon. It's in a great location, 1 min from the beach. Only down side was breakfast cost... more

Our money was stolen from our room at the Tonic Hotel. This hotel does not deserve even a 1-star rating, is scummy and unsafe. Stacy Stavinoha Houston, Texas more

Not a 4 star hotel. Location is good, and bar/dinner/lounge area (same area as where the breakfast is) is nice and renovated, but the rooms are from the mid 80's! Ok for a night or just to crash, but nothing more than that. Breakfast was disappointing! more

We decided to stay a night in Biarritz at short notice. When offered a room in the Tonic we grabbed it. We were charged 198 euro for a standard room for one night. That is the most we have paid for a room in France in many years. What a letdown. Our room smelt smoky. There was scorch marks on... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tonic for one night at the end of May. Noting about this hotel rises above average, other than its location. The staff whilst friendly, politely told us we could not have a cup of coffee in our room at 10.40 at night because the bar was closed. The TV in our room did... more
