We booked this hotel expecting a clean, fresh, modern, comfortable and modest hotel in the centre of Bordeaux (refer to website). Upon entering our room, we were horrified to find the bin was still full of rubbish, banana scraps and litter, the carpet was stained heavily, the curtain rail broken so light came in, paint work scratched and scuffed and... Nice hotel at a great location. Small rooms, but clean. Good beds and there was a fan in the room. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, because there are good cafés nearby for coffee and a croissant.

2 Star hotel. It is basic but very clean and well maintained. Location is central and gives great access to all of the main attractions in Bordeaux. Rooms are simple and tidy with ceiling fans to keep you cool in the summer. WiFi is free albeit a little patchy. A good choice for a short stay.

Unrepresentative pictures on Booking.com. Poor cleaning. And the negative review is difficult to submit, wich explains the 94% positive... Dark rooms, elevator wich still needs stairs, maze layout to rooms.

A friendly, well-run establishment in a fantastic location in the heart of Bordeaux. A stones throw from the cathedral, theatre, main shopping street and restaurants. The room itself was perfectly adequate with a comfortable bed. Very highly recommended.

Great location and friendly and helpful staff. We luckily had a room at the top floor (elevator does not go all the way up), so the view was great. However the room was very small and had a dirty stained carpet that you did not feel like walking on barefooted or even have you luggage on. The price was insane... More

My room on the 1st floor had a window opening to a roof covered with cigarette butts. The carpet was so stained that I did not dare walk on it bare foot. The bathroom was so incredibly small. You had to push extremely hard to open the door and the ceiling fan switch was broken. I do not even comment... More

For the money , hard to beat - Clean, simple, friendly and great location. Room and bathroom were small, but for a downtown one night hotel, it was perfect. Lift was one floor up and other stairs, so not for some who have a hard time with stairs ( as we witnessed ). But for others no problem. We will... More

Hotel Gambetta was the perfect place for us - quiet, clean and located so close to most everything in Old Bordeaux. We are avid walkers/wanderers who don't spend a lot of time in hotel rooms during our visits, so the smaller rooms of HG did not put us off in any way. Ours was clean and quiet and bright with... Dear sir, We are very sorry that your experience at hotel Gambetta was so poor. We apologize for the inconvenients you met and thank you for putting the point on it. This will allow us to improve our service. As a matter of fact, our location in downtown means we have not very much space and the rumour of the... More
