This is a small hotel right in the centre of Bordeaux, close to the best (and most expensive) shopping area. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. Monsieur has an obsession with cleanliness, which is no bad thing for a hotel owner. There is no lift and it's a long way up some steep stairs to the bedrooms on the... more

I stayed at this hotel for a week in September while attending a conference. The hotels on the official meeting list were all Accor properties, and although I don't generally mind them, a search here at Tripadvisor suggested that the Bordeaux properties weren't perhaps the very best (and subsequent queries to my colleagues that used them confirmed this impression). They... more

We stayed at the Hotel de Farnce in September 08 for 3 nights. The room was absolutley tiny and felt even smaller due to the odd brown wall paper and peculiar decor. The reception and breakfast areas are nicely decorated, but I can't say the same for the rooms. The rooms are relatively clean, but could have been cleaner -... more

Stayed for 2 nights, perfect location for walking around town.Breakfast good for size of hotel and staff helpful providing decaff coffee. Room was v small (103) and toilet v cramped. Bed fine if you like a v hard one. Price reasonable but if you stay here check out the room first and ask for another if unsuitable. Phil , Lincolnshire,UK more

I re-read the Trip Advisor reviews after having booked it and thought I was in for a really rough weekend at the Hotel de France. We had room 107 which seemed to be the largest on that floor and was ok. Pity the poor people who had one of the other rooms that had a window looking out onto a... more

We are a couple who love to travel and have stayed in a variety of hotels in different countries. We really, really don't undertand why this hotel has done so well on Trip Advisor. Our room was so, so tiny it was hard to function in it and unpacking our cases was impossible. It was tatty, there was an unplesant... more

This is a great little hotel in a quiet street just minutes from the main streets and sights. Our room was fairly large and very clean, and breakfast was great. Internet is available on demand (ask at reception) but there is no lift, and make sure you get the code for the door if you are going out late, We... more

We stayed for a long weekend in the Hotel de France and I can throughly recommend it. The hotel is very well located on a quiet street in the heart of the old quarter, just minutes away from the shops and an easy walk to the main sights. Yes, the bedroom was small, but it was clean and comfortable with... more

This is a superb little hotel. Reasonably priced and extremely well situated close to Catherine Street and lots of restaurants and cafes. The room was clean, tidy and well appointed. Reception were very helpful. We loved our stay here and would certainly recommend it to others. more

On the bad side our room was VERY small and no air conditioning, which is tough in July. On the plus side, the staff were extremely nice and they provided a fan which was a huge help against the heat. Nice, clean bathroom with shower in the room. Good, safe location in pedestrian area - short walk to all points... more
