I booked a two night stay for my partner's 40th birthday present and it was one of a number of Chateaux we stayed in on a two week tour of France and Northern Spain. The pre-visit help and advice from Veronique was incredibly kind and she organised several wine tours in and around Bordeaux including in St Emilion. The tour... more

My wife and I and two friends stayed at the hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday and indulge in tasting the wines of the region. Veronique, her father and two sisters could not have been more helpful and accomodating in putting our trip together. We ate some of the best breakfasts I have ever experienced. The rooms were clean, spacious... more

We were looking for a spot from which to visit the City of Bordeaux, St. Emilion and Bergerac area. There was little doubt that Chateau Lamothe was the right choice. We felt very welcome upon arrival. My husband and I stayed for three nights at the end of a two week holiday in the region. We traveled with friends from... more

My husband and I can't say enough wonderful things about Chateau Lamothe. We had a wonderful hostess, Veronique, who spent lots of time with us. She gave us great restaurant suggestions and also set up private guided winery tours. The homemade breakfasts were divine and the accomadations were spacious and beautiful. We felt luck to have found a place where... more

My husband and I have stayed with the Bastides nearly every year since 1999, and are planning our travel for this summer to include Chateau Lamothe again. Some years (early on) we went alone; since our baby was born in 1998 we've brought him, too. And during our last stay, in 2006, Veronique especially made sure that her nephew came... more

We chose this chateau from advises of trip advisor members and contacted it through www.chateaux-france.com (you can see photos of all the rooms there). Veronique sent us directions, as we were driving from Tours, and we found the place very easily. We were the only guests at those days and it gave a really cosy and homely feeling. We stayed... more

Friend booked it for us (a group of three) for one night. Both were extremely excited about the place. We were the only tenants for that night. We booked a 300 euro suite - which included one large 'master' bedroom attached to a large bathrooom - which was in turn attached to another smaller bedroom. Upon our late night arrival,... more

Start with the positive. The Cheateaux and the interior decoration is superb (though my companions complained about the beds being too hard). It is certainly an awe inspiring place to stay. Almost all the staff are extremely nice and you get that homely feel when you meet, for example, the father of the girls who run the place. But beware... more

Château Lamothe is a special place: an ancient moated home in it own park in a small village between Bordeaux and St. Emillion. The huge beautiful rooms and sumptuous breakfast are wonderful but the best is the warmth and helpfulness of the Bastide family: Véronique, Beatrice and their father M. Jacques. They expertly guided our exploration of the Bordeaux region,... more

We never felt like we were staying at a hotel while at Chateau Lamothe. My boyfriend and I felt that we were staying at a gracious home belonging to friends. The Bastide family is warm and welcoming. Mr Bastide showed us his personal wine cellar and we enjoyed a bottle he recommended. We stayed in the Prince Noir suite. It... more
