This establishment is located near the train station but rather removed from downtown Bordeaux where the main attractions are. While the neighborhood appears fairly safe, it is not too attractive. The hotel suits well backpackers who can walk from there from the station, but may not be fitting more sophisticated crowd. The room was reasonably okay but the carpet on... More

. We had booked a lovely restaurant for Sunday lunch & didn't want to drive back to our rented accommodation so chose this hotel because it was on the tram route & had secure parking. Overall it " does what it says on the tin" but was unhappy with the security side of things. On arriving back fairly late, it... More

stayed for the Medoc Marathon mid Sept, three different rooms over three days, first one shower didn't work, second one bedside lamps didn't work - one had no bulb in! Third one we got as a late checkout.....NO AIRCONDITIONING in 32 degrees heat, and I see one reviewer said it wasn't working in August! Therefore they let business guests out... More

We had a very comfortable stay at the Gare St Jean Mercure in Bordeaux. It is convenient for the train station and within walking distance to a reasonable selection of restaurants. The room was comfortable and the staff was pleasant. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, but rather walked to the nearby Marché des Capucins to buy fresh... More

I've stayed in this hotel before - when it was a Holiday Inn. The change to the Mercure brand is a positive one, even if the signs on the outside wall are a bit gawdy. The main benefits of this hotel is that it is quiet but well located. It is in a residential/commercial district, yet very convenient for the... More

We’ve tended to avoid chain hotels in France (because we usually try to use the Logis booking system), but were agreeably surprised by this Mercure. The location was perfect for us as it was an easy walk from the railway station, close to a tram stop and with a good supermarket nearby. We did not find the surrounding area rough... More

It was a disappointing stay. The only positive point is its location near the railway station and tram line. On the day of arrival there was only one staff at reception who had to answer phone calls, deal with guests drinking at the lounge while trying to register guests checking in as well as those who were cehcking out. Surely,... More

Hotel is within waking distance of the train station and is on the tram line which takes you into Bordeaux Town Centre ( approx.10 mins). Hotel was clean, room was spacious, towels and toiletries changed daily, reception staff outstanding. We did not take breakfast in the hotel because we thought 15 euros was a bit expensive. We found a small... More

Just returned from a 4 day stay. The hotel is conveniently located for the train station - however this is a not particularly pleasant area of the town. One of the few areas I've travelled to where I felt uncomfortable/ unsafe in the evening/ morning. The hotel is rated as 4 star, how it's got this is beyond me -... More
