Judging by the number of reviews slating the rooms, I suspect it's one of those cases where "superior" rooms are refurbished, whilst "standard" rooms are not. If that's the case, then it's definitely worth paying the extra 15 euros or so here. The hotel looks quite nice on the outside; inside it's a different story as the lobby is dark... more

I stayed at this hotel with a tour group and the hotel was chosen for the group. Overall the hotel was fine. Rooms average in size. Small lobby area but who spends time in the lobby? Breakfast room was a bit loud when filled with guests. Breakfast food was good. We ate one dinner and it also was good but... more

I struggle to understand the negative reviews on this website concerning this hotel. They made me quite nervous before arrival that I had booked a poor choice but this was entire unfounded. I agree that the hotel is probably due a re-furb in the coming future as there are places where things have obviously just been left to get old... more

How this hotel can be rated a four star hotel is beyond me. I was so disappointed when I arrived. Although pretty outside the hotel is out dark and miserable inside and shows clear signs of age. The dark shades of green and red that adorn the walls of the rooms do nothing to help lighten the mood. The room... more

booked hotel through travel agent 2 months prior to our stay. After reading some of the scathing remarks from some of the reviews on tripadvisor i contacted my travel agent and really gave them hell for having the bad judgement for booking us at such a horrid hotel. When we checked into the hotel we were shocked..it was great, large... more

This hotel was one of several that I stayed at during a 10 Day Globus Tour thru France Wine Country. This hotel is horrible. It looks nice from the outside, but the rooms are very shabby and the carpets and bedspreads look dirty. There were what appeared to be cigarette ashes on the night table when we checked in. The... more

Stayed here for Ireland v Namibia rugby match. As I was on my own was given a tiny room at the end of a corridor. The room was adequate, though it had no spare pillows, nowhere to hang clothes, and a very wee bed. The hotel has a wine theme but the lobby really looks a bit like an empty... more

We stayed in the Mercure Bordeaux Chateau Chartrons for 4 nights. The hotel is an older Mercure hotel but the room was ample, spatious and quiet looking out over a patio with a fountain. The bathroom was perhaps a little cramped. Plus points : good location (when by car : 10 min drive to Bordeaux Center); parking space available for... more

This hotel is completely forgetable. The location is a little out-of-the-way from the historic centre (about a 20minute walk), which is less then ideal. The lobby and the service were fine. The room was dark, dated and appeared to be mid-way through a DYI project. It was tidy, but didn't feel clean (stains on sheets, mouldy grout...). I've stayed in... more

If you are in Bordeaux for a vacation do not stay there; it is just nowhere. The area is unfriendly, close to the hotel there were a number of homeless people. The service is not bad, it is inexistant... more
