Really amazing !!! This hotel was a big surprise for us. We were welcome by a great hall just like a nineteenth-century palace with a long elegant staircase. I stayed here as I went on an educational with work (I work for a tour operator). We weren't told beforehand where we were staying so I couldn't believe it when I walked into this hotel, it was amazing! The group I was with were expecting travelodge type hotels, not this! This is a truly lovely hotel in the perfect location for shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing in Belfort. The rooms are being renovated right now, so ask for a renovated one. Ours was nicely decorated in pale yellow with deep purple accents, and had a wood floor (what is called "parquet flottant" in France). We paid 114 euros for 2 people.... more

My wife and I stayed with our 19 year old son, at the Tonneau d'Or for several weeks while relocating to Belfort. They did an excellent job converting an ancient govenment office building into a truly nice hotel in classic, elegant French style.
