Looks ok but that's as far as it goes. It is pretending to be a classy hotel but has less finesse than a motorway services travel lodge. Our lights tripped out plunging us into darkness 3 or 4 times, when we complained the duty manager was rude and unhelpful. We finally gave up and went to bed having informed staff... more

I was staying in Manchester on business and was attending a function at The Palace Hotel (round the corner) but found the reviews of the palace disappointing in comparison to the MacDonald and I am VERY pleased I chose to stay here instead. The staff at the MacDonald were absolutely exceptional, the young girl (who was new to the hotel... more

I stayed at this hotel for a number of days and would definitely return and recommend it to others. The staff on reception were most helpful at all times. Food from the restaurant for evening meals and breakfast was great, room service was ok too. The price of drinks in the hotel bar are typical hotel prices though. The room... more

We had a one night stay after a long meeting and were very happy with the room. It was huge, fab sized bathroom, lovely big bath, nice decor, quiet and comfortable. We did not eat breakfast as we did not get our wake up call (grrrrr) but reading these reviews looks like we had a lucky escape!! After 11pm room... more

In these recessionary times I'm aware that hotels are finding it difficult to make ends meet (aren't we all?) but I'm also increasingly aware of many hotels introducing small "discretionary" or "additional" charges, often in an underhand manner and so I'm going to highlight these wherever I find them. Last week it was the Bristol Mercure with it's 10% discretionary... more

This hotel started life in the 1970s as a Post Office telephone exchange, and its impressive curved structure, with huge windows, dominates this section of London Road. It has been converted into a McDonald Hotel in the last few years at a cost of £16 million, and opened 18 months ago. It is a narrow building, with a central corridor... more

I booked this hotel for a business trip as it was located near our office and had great reviews on tripadvisor. I booked the room and breakfast direct through work so not sure if I got a cheaper corporate rate, however it was about £85 per night including breakfast. Location I can’t really comment about the location as I was... more

Hi Stayed here with my husband as he was attending a conference. Rooms are very modern and comfortable, I slept really well in the king size bed. Location is 2 mins from Manchester Piccadilly station which makes getting to the Airport very convenient (15 mins by train). City centre however is at least a 15 min walk and there are... more

Beautiful hotel in a great location, but please don't book this hotel if you're female and travelling alone. The hotel has a small car park and if this is full when you arrive you will be directed to an NCP car park across the centre of town. This happened to me when I got back around 10.30pm - if I... more
