Gorgeous venue with great decor and ambience, but the hotel/kitchen are extremely inflexible when it comes to private dining and food allergies. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. My party and I were in the private dining room. We were told we could only choose food from the set menu offering a selection of 3 dishes per... More

Had a lovely stay here with my husband for my birthday. The room was wonderful and we got an upgrade thrown in! Although it is quite pricey it was well worth it as a treat! And we got to visit the Christmas Markets too. A wonderful stay in a wonderful hotel! Would highly recommend it.

Ha- visited here 8 years ago and had reason to revisit this week... Best hotel in Manchester? Given all that goes on the ups and the downs I 'd have to say... Yes. GJS is really what they set it out to be, an eclectic mix of style, substance and glam... But in a chilled laid back styl'ie , sure... More

My wife booked this hotel simply because it was nearest to the old Granada studios where we were to walk to Coronation Street cobbles the following day.Valet parking, attentive reception, and a room upgrade got things off to a great start. Our room (32) was amazing, giant comfortable bed, sofa area, and, best of all, stairs to a mezzanine two... More

Cannot fault any aspect of this hotel at all- everything was perfect, from the helpfulness of staff, the bar areas, the rooftop playground, the food, the room amenities... It's not the cheapest hotel but it's rated top for a reason. Loved the sitting area and the separate bath in the room. If you want top luxury this hotel will not... More

We have stayed at GJS a few times now and had afternoon tea on several occasions. Staff are very attentive and helpfull, the Hotel has a really good feel about it and although not the cheapest hotel in Manchester there are offers to be had.

We've stayed here a couple of times and it just gets better and better. Gorgeous rooms, fantastic atmosphere & decor. All of the staff were really friendly and there were some great little touches like welcome back cakes in our room and bottles of water waiting in our car. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and our room was really quiet.... More

It is some 4 years or so since my wife and I were at the Great John Street Hotel. We were not disappointed on our return. The hotel is quirky but comfortable and interesting with friendly and efficient staff. A particular plus point is the quality of the breakfast. The bacon was particularly good. The hotel is next to the... More

Spent a lovely afternoon at this hidden gem in Manchester. A former Victorian school house, each room is named after it's former purpose - Headmasters Office, Boys'/Girls' Classrooms and a rooftop playground. Had afternoon tea on the Mezzanine floor - dainty finger sandwiches on the freshest bread, a variety of cakes and pastries together with cream/jam scones. Tea is served... More

We stayed here on our wedding night in a Baby Grand bedroom. Our room and the communal areas are the nicest I have ever seen. The room feels really luxurious with traditional features and a mezzanine level with a roll top bath and separate walk in rain shower. The service was good, they accommodated our 12:30am arrival and were pleasant... More
