Stayed here after going to a gig on Oxford Road. Comfortable enough beds and clean surroundings. Staff on reception were helpful and it seemed like a safe place. The lack of an oven in the kitchen was a bit of a downfall. I suppose that might be considered a bit of a luxury but after having bought pizzas from a... More

Overall, I suppose you get what you pay for. It wasn't great facilities, but it did the job for a cheap short stay. I stayed in a 10 bed, mixed dorm, on the second floor, for two nights. The beds/pillows were quite uncomfortable, there was a lot of light and noise in the room until very late and the room... More

I stayed in a 10-female dorm. On the website the beds had a curtain which was not the case in the room I stayed in. The door is very loud and I was happy to sleep opposite and not to wake up all the times when somebody came in. The mattress was not very comfortable and I could feel the... More

Thank you for your feedback, it is always appreciated! Some of the issues are structural, and we do hope to renovate and give things a polishing off, but we have our handyman addressing things in the meantime. But dish washing! You've got to love dish washing! I've put on 7kgs last month simply because I kept eating food so that... More

The place has its personality. Staff very friendly. Location is perfect! You have everything around. I was worried about it because I had read some bad comments, but I had a great time! I slept well, I met nice people, I could walk everywhere and the guys at the reception were always there to help us out. I like the... More

Personality - I like your take on the matter and completely agree. Forming your own opinions about places is a commendable trait in a traveler. Other worthy traits include venturing further than your best mate Gaz's place; remembering to take a towel; not doing tricep dips between two sets of bunk beds at the crack of dawn; learning local translations... Very clean and orderly, 24 hours a day. Located two minutes off city centre and Picadilly station. Free wi-fi in common areas was more than enough for me. Staff was very helpful and kept providing relevant info and tips.

A great hostel that is centrally located to transports and shops of Manchester. Breakfast was supplied but was quiet early, especially if you like to sleep in. Reception was very nice and daily activities helped involve and engage people and introduced Manchester to new people to the area.

Cheers for the review! Glad to hear our activities created a social atmosphere for you. As for the free breakfast times, well, you know what they say, "the early bird gets the inclusive continental breakfast served in our common area with a selection of toast, cereals, fruit, tea coffee and more!" Stayed with a few of my friends for one night midweek, price was reasonable and the place did the perfect job after a night out, clean and a very handy location for nightlife and shopping, would stay again for sure.

Thanks for the review! Hatters does indeed do the job, it has a family to support after all, little baby hostels running around screaming all day, still so clueless to the world around them. They're super cute though. As far as imaginary, inanimate, miniature buildings can be cute. More

Overall I thought this hostel, the first I've stayed in for years, was great. I booked a single room at the last minute because it was cheaper than other options near the city centre. The room was on the 5th floor, which was a bit of a pain, but I guess quieter than the lower floors. It was very small... More

We booked a private ensuite room for a very good price! So I cannot tell about the dormitories. It is a budget backpackers accommodation, but the standards are quite good. It is very central and in a very good position. Our bedroom was huge and the bathroom as well. The staff are helpful and very kind.

Thanks for your review! Both of our Manchester Hatters, Newton St and Hilton Chambers, offer private rooms (though only Hilton Chambers offers ensuite rooms, so I suspect you may have been staying there) which range from single and twin rooms, to private 10 bed dorms. So if like me, you live your life according to the philosophies fictional Disney character... More
