This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in! Rooms have had no investment since the 1970s, the bar area was awful and breakfast was very thin. Staff were at best incompetent. I thought I had walked into a cross between Fawlty Towers and Acorn Antiques. I would not recommend this hotel to my worse enemy!

Having read the reviews I was dreading this stay but it was the closest to a wedding we were at this weekend. I rang and emailed to express my concerns and prepare them for our stay as wee were a party of 12. But I have to say that it's absolutely fine! Admittably you wouldn't stay here for a luxury... I am reviewing the party night not staying at the hotel. Absolutely brilliant night was had by all, the price we payed was £25 per head, drink on arrival then shown to our lovely dressed round table, starter was a very tasty soup and roll followed by our lovely roast and then a dessert of Christmas mess all served very... Checked in at 2.30am after locking ourselves out of our house! We were greeted by a friendly guy on reception who accommodated us with no problems. The room was very basic and not to our usual standards, and I feel it is overpriced at £65. If we had been staying there under different circumstances I probably wouldn't have been too... More

Saturday night office party. Cold room but we thought there's 90 of us, it'll warm up soon - very naive of us! Service began, we were given stale rolls, no butter. When we asked for it, the staff couldn't understand us! Eventually we found someone to get us some & it arrived - 5 pats for a table of 11... More

On arrival I was greeted with a path at the entrance covered with many dead cigarettes. There was an empty wine bottle, cigarette packets and a length of rope (?) in the hedge leading up to the entrance. As I entered, the reception was staffed but no greeting offered. I went to the toilet. There was dried sick in the... More

Excellent room with jacuzzi, sleigh bed and decent furnishings. Decent food, good selection of beer at the bar and the breakfast was excellent. Attentive staff with a smile completed a pleasant stay. As a negative, I saw a few other rooms and they seemed very small and basic.....,although this is fine I suppose if you get the right price!

...stayed as a group....lovely welcome, staff friendly, and efficient even though busy, rooms clean and pleasant and breakfast excellent...use of the pool and facilities overall an enjoyable stay, plenty of parking, at no charge and handy for city centre or nearby village. Peaceful and comfortable nights sleep, and although not far from our home would definitely stay again. If there... More
