What can I say.....amazing beer, dart boards , pub games , no idiots aloud and great bar staff who make you feel welcome. Must be the best pub in Manchester by a country mile. Looking forward to seeing how things develop over 2016 and sampling the many different beers and ales.

..I don't think its listing helps. There does not seem to be a place where you can start a review trail for a place that has been open before. But hey ho: This is now settling in to be a warm welcoming place with craft beer (7 handpumps and 10 keg behind the bar). Also has specialist gin menu (like... More

No fewer than TWO refurbishments, since the previous owners ruined this iconic Manchester venue, has made a VAST improvement. Blackjack Taphouse and their well-selected hosts have turned The Smithfield Market Tavern into a 'proper pub' once again. I sampled three of the 16 beers on offer - and was NOT let down by either the quality or fantastic service (which... More

On my third visit to the newly Blackjacked Smithfield I began to realise why I like it so much. I was there on the opening night, feeling somewhat naked as one of the few men not sporting a floor length beard, and somewhat in awe of how trendy the Northern Quarter can be. Then, a couple of visits later, I... More

.. as this is now run by Blackjack ales. Much improved IMHO and whilst the last reviewer - the first for this essentially new bar - is correct in that it "only" has 6 handpumped cask ales, it also has around 12 keg ales which though pricier than cask - are worth trying. They even had a 9% Belgian triple... More

What a transformation! I went in the 'old' Smithfield plenty of times (even stayed there once) and it was what it was. Not great. Now, it has a roomier feel to it and it clean and tidy. The toilets are not up and down an awkward step (I can only speak for the gents). The beer range is is down... More

Had some great beers in here, what a selection. Tastefully refurbished and extremely friendly and helpful staff. This place really is a hidden gem. Well worth a visit. If you're visiting Manchester it's a must and another great reason for luvingvin Mqnchester. We'll be back.

Stayed at the Smithfield this month! Can I just say you get what you pay for. Clean, comfy and quirky! The hotel is above a pub, which is very cheap, with two young and very outgoing bar maids which kept us entertained at all night, very good double act! It was clear they were refurbishments were going on but this... More

A friend of mine has taken over The Smithfield Hotel so please excuse all the previous comments. They have spent the last few weeks sorting the place out and are trying really hard and many of the rooms have recently been refurbished in to en-suites - there should be new pictures on the website soon. In the meantime please visit... More

we were greeted on check in by a scruffy looking man who claimed to be the owner, who had clearly been drinking, and possibly even smoking mrajuana, as the whole bar area stank of it, we nearly walked out but given it was 7 pm on a saturday we probably would not of got a hotel anywhere else, we were...
