This hotel was picked because it was close to the Coronation Street tour, only about five minutes walk and also because it has a car park. Note: get to the car park either before 5 p.m. or after 7p.m. if you want a space. The cost is 10 pounds payable at the hotel. We were upgraded to a superior room... More

I'm still not sure if I would go back, the hotel offers so many highs and lows, starting with booking where every little bed choice will cost you more, doubles cost more than twins? Then more for king size and so on. Great facilities free use of the pool and gym, great to have an iron and board in the... More

The castlefield hotel is situated in a great location near the centre of town, above a good gym and next to the canals. Cracking restaurants nearby, and the restaurant food is fine. The bar is pretty ordinary, but let's face it you're not going to stay in.. Are you? The rooms could do with updating and it's fairly noisy over... More

I have recently returned from a two night stay at Castlefield Hotel in Manchetser. I found the check in and welcome, friendly and professional. The hotel, however, is tired. The room was fine, nice view of the canals below. However, the rooms are in need of a major makeover. I ate locally and did not have lunch or dinner in... More

A typical city centre hotel. Somewhat shabby. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are a good size but looking rather tired. A drawer bottom was falling out and the towels are in need of replacing. Not a good nights sleep as doors cannot be closed quietly and latecomers and early risers disturb accordingly.

Jayne 2087.Thank you for the feedback and delighted you found the team very friendly and welcoming. As with all hotels the need for refurbishment is ongoing and we are well aware of this and have recently replaced all TV's with larger scree digital ones and are currently in the process of renewing all electricity switches and lighting. 33% of bathrooms... I stayed here for my brother's wedding on the 4th of October. The room for the event was wonderful - a perfect size - and the staff were attentive and pleasant. The rooms were clean and fairly sized, but I agree that it is in need of refurbishment. My friend described it as looking like an old folk's home... I... More

Jenny L, delighted you enjoyed your brother's wedding in the unique indoor marquee .Glad you found the hotel bedrooms clean and of a good size. Obviously every hotel ages and trends change but your 'old folk's home' description probably reflects your age.Still, I'm glad you rate us 4*- don't know of too many 4* examples of that genre! More

Friendly and obliging staff but this hotel is overdue a refurbishment. The level of cleanliness particularly in the health club is not what it should be. On one day the room was not serviced at all. The location is a reminder of Manchester's industrial past and a short walk under the railway bridge to the canal basin opens up a... More

Camera Two, Many thanks for your feedback and apologies about the Y Club cleanliness. This has been passed on to the manager who has taken stringent internal action.Interesting comment about a road that is, and has been closed for over a year now. Apparently the ones in Monaco are similar- about once a year! More

hotel ideal for the tour and Spinngfields but a bit of a walk to the shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit dated but good value and we had a view of the canal We enjoyed a swim in the pool steam room and sauna. The only slightly negative thing was breakfast , there... More

Location good, staff very, very friendly, pool a welcome addition. I guess it all comes down to the room, sleep quality etc. Room small, decor tired, windows ill fitting ,previous occupant(s) a smoker as cigarette butts littered the flat roof underneath the window.Shower unit newish but flooded as the drainage insufficient. The noise from the canal basin and the late night revellers at the front of the...
