Stayed with the New Union many times - it is a straight forward honest and basic room with friendly staff and management. If you are prissy and require diamonte taps and a maid on call plus a free bath robe then this is not the place for you. If you want to go to bed at 10pm this is not... more

Don't stay here if you don't plan on staying awake until bar closing time. I hadn't expected the bar to be so loud with the hotel right above it. If you're tired and want to turn in early, you'll have to suffer thumping beats until 2 or 3 am. Other than that, rooms are spartan and functional, but clean. more

Stayed there on a Friday night, a double bed for £50 as they dont have singles. Booked by phone and have to say the first thing the guy did was warn me there would be loud music till 2am. I had no problem with that and was happy with his honesty. As i left my booking quite late (2 days... more

I stayed 4 nights at the New Union Hotel and was very impressed with the welcome and daily concern by management and staff for my comfort and enjoyment. From April 27 to 30 I ventured the city centre with good advice from the staff and patrons. The noise from the disco and stage shows did not really bother me much,... more

I will happily return to the New Union, but it's no gem - simply an okay £35 a night room. Rather tatty, but friendly. Feels very dodgy when the door to the office has a steel roller shutter on it (from the inside of the hotel) - wonder just who's expected to be roaming around at night. At check in... more

I stayed in The New Union Hotel for two nights, with my boyfriend, as we had visited Manchester to see a concert. While staying at The New Union Hotel, we both received:- 1. A very warm and friendly welcome and excellent customer sevice, throughout our stay while we were there and after we left! I had left my fairly expensive hair... more

Hi I stayed at the Union in December. I agree with the noise part from the bar below but it didn't affect us either as we were out until 2am anyway. It was really clean. There wasn't any breakfast when we stayed either but the hotel manager said it was because most people prefer it to be cheap and no... more

For those visitors seeking to stay in the Gay Village this is an excellent option. Reasonable, clean and very affordable rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, though sadly no breakfast option as yet. The only thing to be wary off, if you are a light sleeper and early to bed is that there is loud music downstairs until about... more
