OK people, i have seen some scathingly bad reviews of this hotel and feel that they are unfair. Yes it was renovated in 2011 and the carpets and paintwork are now a bit worn. BUT £45 for a room AND a cooked breakfast right in the heart of Manchester and right on the lovely canal. Staff are very friendly and... More

Slap bang in the middle of the gay village, the REM is definitely a winner for this. The room was very nice, clean, dark colour themed, and pleasant. Shared facilities but this didn't really bother me or my boyfriend at all. Breakfast was really nice too, cooked full English :) I'd recommend if you can get it for the right... More

Very poor room. Very cheap but windows broke, bits falling off wall, holes in curtains. Terrible mattress on bed with springs popping out. Dirty carpet. Was not told on booking that is was an all male bar below and had to try get in to get a key. This should be more clear

I wasn't expecting much being a pub hotel but it was dire. This must be your last choice in Manchester. The sheets were clean but everything else needed cleaning or renewing. The shower had one broken door ( and that was it), the carpet was threadbare, the cups were dirty, the window was dirty and only opened a tiny bit... More

We stayed here one day right after the Christmas. We had booked it in advance, but we didn't know that it was located in gay village. The hotel and room decorated in very gay style. It was cold inside and too loud until 2 am because of the club on the ground floor.

Would not advise staying at this hotel,I booked a room for an overnight stay and was disgusted,I felt that I had been cheated out of my money, the shower head was dirty, the shower doors were broken, the sink tap was broken, the sink had three large chips along the basin, carpets were old and frayed and the room was dirty

We booked a double room here for £35. Yes it's not the most modern hotel and there is a lot of work to be done, but for the price I won't be critical. The bed was surprisingly comfy and we had a great sleep. The breakfast the next morning was lovely: a good selection of cereals, juices, Tea and coffee... More

Myself and a friend booked here for a one night stay on March 14th 2015. We paid £120 for a double room which we thought was good for a late booking. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. You have to share bathrooms with everyone else on the floor, the place was definitely not the cleanest and the drains were... More

Just dont do it. Thats the important part! I really wish I had read reviews before booking this place, but unfortunately did not. The place is dirty and grubby and the staff are abrupt and disinterested. This is a gay hotel - which is what I wanted - central to Canal St. However, what you only seem to learn when... More

I stayed there with a friend at the beginning of February 2015. We were looking for a cheap place to stay as we only wanted to get drunk in Manchester. We didn't need a luxury hotel for that as it was only to have a bed. However, there are some limits!! When booking, the photos showed a nice bed in... More
